SIGNS OF SUICIDE PREVENTION PROGRAMsos
Milton High School takes seriously the emotional and physical safety of our students. In order to proactively address concerns of depression and teen suicide, Milton High School is joining with other Fulton County schools to offer suicide prevention training as part of the SOS- Signs of Suicide Prevention Program. Our goals in participating in this program are straightforward:
  • To explain that suicide is a preventable tragedy that often occurs as a result of untreated depression.
  • To provide students training in how to identify serious depression and potential risk of suicide in a friend.
  • To impress upon teens that they can help themselves or a friend by taking the simple step of talking to a responsible adult about their concerns.
This program will be implemented through the 9th grade Biology classes in early September 2016. If you DO NOT wish for your child to participate in the SOS- Signs of Suicide intervention training in school, please print and complete the following form (SOS OPT OUT FORM) and return it to Milton High School to the attention of Melisa Marsh in the Counseling Department.
If we DO NOT hear from you before September 2, 2016, we will
assume  your child has permission to participate in this program.

As we move towards Personalized Learning, Milton High School will be issuing electronic devices (Microsoft Surface 3) to students this school year. We believe that the device can be a powerful tool in the education of our students, giving greater freedom for students to explore and learn content matter in diverse ways. However, it is vital that all students learn how to use this tool safely and responsibly. Over the next several weeks, all students will be participating in digital citizenship lessons during the school day. Some of the topics that these lessons will cover include cyberbullying, online privacy, and students' digital footprint. The content and instruction will be delivered through Common Sense Media, a company devoted to responsible media/technology use for parents, students, and schools.  Please take the time to view the video below and access the Common Sense Media link on the school website.
