National Recovery Month



In celebration of September as National Recovery Month, several local organizations are planning events:

International Overdose Awareness Day
August 31, 2016

 

Summit County Community Partnership
is coordinating several events in observance of Overdose Awareness Day, August 31st.

In partnership with WAKR, a call in Radio Town Hall Meeting will be held beginning at 10:00am. 
The program will focus on
opiate and heroin overdose deaths and community response and prevention efforts. Interviews will be conducted with local leaders and community residents affected by the problem.  Listeners will be able to call with questions:

At 3:00pm that day, Partnership requests that you join the conversation via a Twitter chat about what you can do in your community to help reduce the problem. #OverdoseAware2016.

 





NAMI Summit County  
is currently registering for its free Family to Family training which begins September 7, 2016 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.  

This course is designed for family members and close friends of those who suffer from severe and persistent mental illness.  It is a 12 week program which meets once a week for 2-2.5 hours.  

The course is conducted by trained family members and is offered free of charge with all materials provided. 

The next session will be held at Harry Donovan Jr. Valor Home of Summit County, 1121 Exeter Road, Akron, OH.
