There are three vacancies to be elected at the February 27, 2014 Annual Meeting of the GCA.  Don Sundgren (2012 GCA President) is chairing this year's Nominating Committee.  If you, or someone you know, would be interested in becoming a GCA board member, please let Don know by emailing him at [email protected] prior to January 10, 2014

Equestrian Center Programs for Children
During the Christmas break the Glenmore Equestrian Center has the following dates available for residents' kids to join a pony camp where there will be riding, learning more about the horses and their needs, how to tack up and care for the facility as well as a holiday craft  time. The hours will be from 9-2 and the dates are December 23rd, 26th, 27th and January 2nd & 3rd. They are accepting anyone with an interest in horses for ages 5 and above. Kids should bring their own lunch.

The After School Program is for all elementary school age children in and around our area who need care after school. Time for homework, a snack, outdoor activities, planned indoor and outdoor games as well as art lessons will be offered from 2:30pm until 6pm Monday through Friday.

You can download more information on both programs and contact information here.

  Help Prevent Holiday Burglaries
2013 has been a good year for crime prevention in Glenmore.  We have had no car break-ins reported, and have experienced just a couple of incidents of minor vandalism.
 Crime Prevention
Please help keep it this way as we enter the holiday period. Lock all parked cars, leave nothing of value inside, turn on outside lights, and remove any garage door opener from the car.

If going away, put your lights on timers, tell adjacent neighbors and Alb Co Police, and stop delivery of mail and papers.  Try to make house look occupied. Let someone know how to contact you, and tell the gatehouse.

Vultures
The GCA Board is aware of residents' concerns over the flocks of vultures (buzzards) which have made their home in Glenmore in recent weeks.  As many of you know, they are federally protected migratory birds, though they seem to have settled here this year. We are seeking advice from experts on how to deal with the problem.  Meanwhile, rest assured that although they can leave a mess, they are not dangerous to your pets or children - they are scavengers and only interested in eating carrion - dead and decaying animals.
Expecting Someone?

Do you have family or friends visiting you this holiday season?  Please remember that their cars must not be parked on the street overnight.   All vehicles must be parked in your driveway.  If you don't have room, ask your neighbors if you can use theirs.
