The GCA Board is very appreciative of the feedback we received from residents concerning regarding the proposed purchase of the 61-acre equestrian parcel. In order to more carefully digest your feedback and to explore suggested options, we delayed bringing the vote on the acquisition of this land to the membership.

 

Now the board is almost ready to submit for your consideration a final proposal to purchase the equestrian parcel. A voting information packet will be mailed to all members in mid-June. This packet will include full details of the proposal and addresses questions raised in the community meetings and through your communications directly with the board. It will include voting instructions, in advance of a Special Meeting of the Association to be held on July 10th at which the vote will be finalized.  

 

The Common Area Review Board (CARB) is seeking two additional volunteer residents to join Glenmore's Storm-water Management Committee.

Formed in 2013, the committee, formed in 2013, oversees our aging storm-water infrastructure. Albemarle County is in the process of enacting new regulations regarding the quality and quantity of storm-water draining into tributaries feeding the Chesapeake Bay. These new regulations could impact Glenmore.

Interested residents should have a keen interest in preserving the GCA common areas, some engineering or storm-water management knowledge, and be willing to donate 6-10 hours per month to planning and overseeing the annual maintenance program, investigating residents' storm-water complaints, and advising the CARB.

At its May meeting, the GCA board agreed to start taking steps to influence VDOT to change its position in insisting that all construction traffic for the Rivanna Village development use Glenmore Way as its access route. We will be making representations to various governmental bodies and individuals over the next few weeks, and have had offers of help from several residents. 

To date, nearly 700 residents have signed the on-line petition, about half the adult population of Glenmore.  The petition site remains open, so if you have not already done so, please add you name to the list.  Each member of your household 18 years of age or older may sign the petition.  Follow this link to the petition.

The next stage of project approval will be a public hearing of the Board of Supervisors - we will let you know when we hear of the date.

(Although the GCA has no direct relationship with the Country Club, we are pleased to support opportunities made available to all Glenmore residents.)

 

Once again we have been having problems with dogs being allowed to roam freely around the community. This recently led to a biting incident. Please be aware that all dogs must be either on a leash or under close control of the owner at all times.
