Parent Discussion Groups in Walnut Creek and Oakland
Kathleen Crombie is pleased to offer a new monthly "advanced" discussion group of parents of gifted or 2e children beginning September 15. The group meets Thursday mornings, 11:00am-12:30pm, at Summit Center Walnut Creek. This group is recommended for parents who have attended a past SENG-model parent group and would like to continue to meet for insight and support. Learn More and Register

If you have not joined a parent group previously, you should sign up for Kathleen's weekly introductory discussion group. This group meets Monday evenings in Oakland near Rockridge BART, starting October 10.

Counseling and Assessments at Reduced Fees
 
We are pleased to offer assessment and counseling sessions with our new doctoral trainees, Cyrell Roberson and Brennan Whitley. Psychological assistant  Ellena Chen will continue providing services through the doctoral training program.
 
Our senior trainees provide the full range of Summit Center services, including:
- counseling and therapy
- educational and neuropsych evaluations
 - consultation
 
Cyrell, Brennan, and Ellena work under the close supervision of Dr. Stephen Chou; Brennan is also supervised by Dr. Lisa White. All three trainees are currently working towards their doctorates in Psychology. The training program allows more clients to access high quality Summit Center services at reduced fees. As our kids head back to school, study habits and time management once again become a big concern. Deanna Kim, M.Ed., offers Just Like Flossing: 5 Ways to Improve Your Study Habits, on how your child can create and maintain good daily study habits and self-discipline. Deanna is an Educational Therapist at Summit Center Walnut Creek and at the Athenian School in Danville, CA, where she coaches students in executive functioning to improve TOPS™ skills: Time Management, Organization, Planning, and Self-Understanding.
 
In addition, Deanna is presenting a Summit Center webinar, Time Management Skills for Your Child, on Tuesday, August 30, for families with children who seem unaware of passing time and often lose track of time.
 
In this online talk, Deanna will address the complexity of time management and the associated brain skills for youngster's brains. She will reveal how we can help our kids develop a daily and weekly habit of being intentional with their time.Deanna will also explore strategies to nurture our conversations with our children on time awareness and how to make time more visible.
