Lots of good stuff happening!!
The Back to School Social was a fun night for all. We thank you for coming, and an extra big thank you to everyone who volunteered. We couldn't have done it without you! Also, special thanks to the 4th Grade Coloma committee for organizing food to raise funds for the May Coloma trip. Great job!

General PTA Association Meeting
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 31, PTA GENERAL ASSOCIATION MEETING, 7:00pm, in the MPR!!
The main objective of this first PTA meeting of the school year is to review this year's proposed PTA budget. Come see where all your generous donations are going towards to further enrich the educational experience of our students at Walnut Grove!
We will also discuss the upcoming bond measure that will be on the November ballot. It is entitled "
PUSD and Classroom Safety, Renovation, Construction, and Modernization Measure." We will vote on whether or not Walnut Grove PTA funds will be used to support this measure.

Printed PTA Directory
DIRECTORY BOOKLET COVER ART CONTEST
For this year's printed version of the Walnut Grove Student Directory, the Walnut Grove PTA is having a
Student Cover Contest!

Students must use this template for their cover contest entries.
*
Students can design the page any way they like (be creative and colorful!) in the white space area on the template.
*
The name of the student and his or her teacher should be written on the BACK of each entry
(yes, students can work together on this project!).
*
Entries are due by the end of the school day on Friday, September 9th. There will be a white container in the office marked "PTA DIRECTORY COVER ART CONTEST" to collect all entries.

Garden Club
The Walnut Grove Garden is in full bloom!
All students are invited to visit the garden on Tuesdays during their lunch recess (11:30-1:10.)
The kids get the opportunity to help maintain the garden as well as taste its bounty!
We could use a couple extra hands helping direct the kids. No gardening experience is needed! If you can help for even part of the lunch times, please contact Candee Banman

After School Enrichment Programs
Walnut Grove offers a few different after school programs for your child. Whether they like physical or creative minded activities, there's something for everyone.
BLACK DRAGON CHESS is available for grades 1st through 5th and will be held on
Mondays from 3:00-4:00pm. There are 8 classes on 9/12, 9/19, 9/26, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 10/24, and 11/7.
YOUNG REMBRANDTS DRAWING
is available for grades 1st through 5th and will be held on Friday's from
September 9th through October 21st from 3:10-4:10pm.
SKYHAWKS SPORTS
will take place on Thursdays from September 8th through October 20th from 2:00-3:00pm at the Walnut Grove Park.

Fun Run
 The Fun Run will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016.
This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Walnut Grove,
and brought in over $65,000 for our school last year.
This year, we are striving for more, and we know we can do it!
If you plan to volunteer for the Fun Run, you must make sure your
volunteer clearance form
is turned into the office asap, if you haven't already done so.

Yearbook Photos
This year, we are now offering an easy, convenient way for
everyone
to submit photos for yearbook consideration; not just our classroom Yearbook Reps. You can now start sharing photos now of field trips, classroom events, school and community activities or shots of your children and their friends that might otherwise be missed by our class yearbook reps.

4th Grade Coloma Fundraiser
Registration is open now for the 9 Hole Scramble Golf Tournament taking place on Friday, October 14th. Please click here to register.
