Villa Avenue Paving Project Notice
August 19, 2016

NOTICE!
VILLA PAVING
CONCRETE PAVEMENT INSTALLATION

The paving contractor is scheduled to begin forming the road and start pouring the new concrete pavement (Villa between Adams & Columbia) on Monday, August 22nd.

Starting on the date listed above, it will be impossible to maintain any local traffic on this street, therefore, all driveways that access this street will be closed.  The paving contractor has indicated that they will need approximately two (2) weeks to place the forms and pour the concrete.  They have told to us that they plan to pave the north side of the road first and then the south side shortly thereafter.  After the concrete is poured, the pavement must cure for seven (7) days, during which time NO traffic can be driven on it.

Once the concrete roadway is finished curing, individual driveway approaches will be installed, sidewalks will be installed and repaired where needed, and all parkways (the areas between the sidewalk and curb) will be restored.  Similar to the street pavement, each individual driveway must remain closed for seven (7) days before it is strong enough to withstand the weight of vehicles.  Once the concrete road pavement has finished curing, residents will be allowed to park in front of their homes at the beginning and end of each day while the driveways are being replaced.  Residents are encouraged to use on-street parking on adjacent streets during the concrete paving and curing phase.

Any vehicles left on private property (that relies solely on the above listed street for access) will not be able to be used for approximately three (3) weeks, while the concrete cures.

The above work schedule is dependent on good weather.  Concrete cannot be installed if it is raining, or if the ground is saturated from recent rain.  In this case, the work will be postponed until weather conditions are appropriate.

Next week, due to the preparation work for the new concrete, trash trucks will not be able to operate on the street as they would normally.  Please put out your trash near the sidewalk as you would normally do (NO LATER than 7:00 A.M.).  City staff will use small four wheeled vehicles to collect the trash and take it to another adjacent street for loading on to a truck.  Due to the extra work involved, if you are able to avoid disposing of any large, bulky items, that would be appreciated.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience.  If you have any questions, an inspector representing the City will be on site each day, or feel free to contact the Engineering Department at (248) 530-1850.
