Please join us for movie night this Sunday as we enjoy,
Resurrection, with Ellen Berstyn and Sam Shepard. I was shocked twenty years ago when I was a UU seminary student reading the Christian bible for the first time, at how many miracle healing stories there were about Jesus in the Bible. The same semester I began studying the teachings of Jesus, I also took a class in "Healing Traditions" and decided to write a paper on miracle healers. I will share my story about my relationship with an energy healer here in San Diego, Gene Egidio before he died.
What have been your experiences of miracle healing? Love heals us miraculously. Many religions have accounts of miraculous healing beyond the miracles of love of family and creation. In
Resurrection, after a near death experience the character of Edna acquires "miraculous" healing abilities. She likes the idea that
God is love and she has little patience for the orthodox ideas of religion. Jesus heals a women in Luke 13:10-16 and is also similarly impatient with the rules and law centered orthodox community of his time.
We will offer a service, pot luck dinner, movie and enjoy a discussion before and after the movie about this provocative subject.

Healing the persecution of women in the patriarchal church and culture as well as the earth; for what we have done to woman, we have done to the earth. We will commune and honor the Divine Mother and the Divine Feminine within us as we seek to heal our Mother Earth.

10 "You're blessed when your commitment to God provokes persecution. The persecution drives you even deeper into God's kingdom.
11-12 "Not only that-count yourselves blessed every time people put you down or throw you out or speak lies about you to discredit me. What it means is that the truth is too close for comfort and they are uncomfortable. You can be glad when that happens-give a cheer, even!-for though they don't like it, I do! And all heaven applauds. And know that you are in good company. My prophets and witnesses have always gotten into this kind of trouble.
