+ care

We extend our thanks to the entire Nativity family for all the prayers and support for Don and our family over the past months.

Don enjoyed the cards and was always happy to have the visits from Pastor Mark and Pastor Gregg, though frustrated with his inability to talk when people came to visit.

A special thanks to the Choir and Acoustic Music group for their contributions to his Celebration of Life -  Chris told me he was sure he heard his Dad humming along.

Another big thank you to Ann Dasher and all the ladies who prepared and served the lunch; it was just right.

- Diane, Chris and Pat Locotosh

God's Work, Our Hands Intergenerational Faith Formation - August 21st
Join us in the fellowship hall between worship services to learn about this year's God's Work, Our Hands project and to share in our faith together!

+ God's Work, Our Hands

Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016

This year, our God's Work Our Hands project is School Kits.

Our goal is to assemble 125 school kits between services on Sept. 11th.  Members are already hard at work sewing many of the backpacks.

August 21st - GWOH Prep Day
Please bring any donations to the church fellowship hall by Aug 21st.  Then join us between services for an intergenerational faith formation and education event centered on the school kits!

We will also have a noisy offering on Aug 21st in order to purchase any remaining supplies so that we will be ready to pack kits on GWOH Sunday!

Supplies needed for each kit:
  • FOUR 70-sheet notebooks of wide- or college-ruled paper, approximately 8" x 10 ½"; no loose leaf paper
  • ONE 30-centimeter ruler, or a ruler with centimeters on one side and inches on the other
  • ONE pencil sharpener
  • ONE pair of blunt scissors (safety scissors with embedded steel blades work well)
  • FIVE unsharpened #2 pencils with erasers
  • FIVE black or blue ballpoint pens (no gel ink)

Here's the scoop on our new
book discussion group at Nativity!

The interest group met August 7 to set time, place, and guidelines for our discussions. Our mission statement is "to nurture Christian fellowship, growth and knowledge through reading."
All are welcome!

When/Where:  Tues., Sept. 13 (1:30-3:00pm) or  Thur., Sept. 15 (6:30-8:00pm) - Choose an afternoon or evening, depending on your schedule.  We will be meeting monthly at Nativity in the north Fellowship Hall classroom.  We will discuss the same book whether you come to the afternoon or evening session.

What:  The first book chosen by the group is "A skeleton in God's Closet" by Paul L. Maier.  "Carefully researched and compellingly written, this fast-paced thriller take you from the dust of the archaeological dig to the labs of dedicated scientists to the halls of political and religious power, where world reaction is instant, fierce, and shattering..."

+ Way to go, Luke!

Congratulations go to Luke Ward for earning the rank of Eagle Scout this past Sunday!

Congratulations to his parents, Mike and Hannah Ward, who helped Luke with this impressive achievement!
+ A word of thanks and congratulations

Congratulations go to Shivam Patel, a senior scout of our very own BSA Troop 8, who has outstanding accomplishments: This summer Shivam completed successfully his eagle project. In this project, Shivam supervised a group of scouts and adult volunteers in repairing, replacing materials and refinishing the entire ramp and entry to the modular building located on Nativity property. And several weeks ago, Shivam passed successfully the Board of Review for the rank of eagle scout.
Thank you, Shivam and congratulations on your wonderful achievements.

We continue to support Scouts who strive to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. For any questions about our own Troop 8, please contact Fred Friederichs here
