Please join us for a Meet and Greet for our new, fearless leader, Steve Gilbert, on Thursday from 4 to 6pm on the state of the Coleman Theatre. Steve and his family are going to be great additions to our community, so let's make him feel welcome! Also during this time there will be a short presentation celebrating Ottawa County becoming the first county in Oklahoma to be certified as a Work Ready Community. There is information in this email about the special board and membership meeting scheduled for Thursday. We encourage all members to attend. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact the Chamber office or any of the board members. Have you seen the work being done at 25 N. Main Street? It is the new home of Megan Frazier Photography, and on Tuesday, August 16 they will be celebrating with an open house and ribbon cutting. You won't want to miss this! Have you noticed our hospital has a new name? They will be formally unveiling INTEGRIS Miami Hospital on Thursday, August 18 from 4:30 to 5:30pm at the hospital's front entrance. Please consider making a donation to support Youth Leadership Miami. We had a great year and look forward to showing local young people about the community. We are only half way to our goal. Have a great week! Michele On August 8, 1929 The Masonic Lodge moved to a new temple in the Coleman Theatre on the anniversary of their 1899 charter, |

Special Board and Membership Meeting
After extensive research and planning the Miami Area Chamber of Commerce and the Miami Area Economic Development Service, Inc. (MAEDS) are excited to announce the consolidation of the two organizations. These two organizations have always worked closely together, but by joining talents and resources we can more efficiently and effectively serve Miami and the surrounding communities.
Below is a link to the proposed changes to the Chamber's by-laws that will dissolve the current Chamber Board and form a new Board with members of both organizations represented. As a Chamber member, we encourage you to review these proposed changes and let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
The proposed slate of new board members and their terms are:
1 year term - Jason Blevins, Dr. Jeff Hale, Jeff Brown
2 year term - Eddie Munson, Chief John Froman
3 year term - Chuck Neal, Pat Jurgensmeyer
Permanent positions - Miami City Manager, Miami Mayor or his/her designee
A Chamber board and general membership meeting is scheduled for
Thursday, August 11 at 1pm in the Miami Civic Center banquet room. The by-law changes will be presented, discussed and voted on at that time. All Chamber members are invited to attend and take part in the discussion.
It is an exciting time for the Chamber and MAEDS, and we look forward to the great things we will accomplish together.
