Liz Chang
|
|
|
Nursing your child within one hour of birth and exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of an infant’s life is a key factor for the survival and health of a newborn.
Every woman’s journey to motherhood is different, but one of the first decisions every new mom makes is how to feed her child.
The newly published Lancet Breastfeeding Series review shows remarkable evidence on the health and economic benefits of breastfeeding. This interaction between a mother and her newborn improves the survival, health, and development of all children, saves women’s lives and contributes to human capital development across populations. McDonald's Latino Owners helping the Trenton Community
|
"Freddie and Rosa Rosado are examples of business owners who are engaged in the community in which they do business," Jackson said. "That says a lot about their commitment to Trenton."
Anybody can talk a good game about civic involvement and community spirit. Freddie and Rosa Rosado are living those ideals.
If the wife and husband had merely donated their time to the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, it would have been enough. If they'd just been president of the Latino Chamber of Commerce (Freddie) and spearheaded church galas (Rosa), it would have been plenty.
But now they're serving up community involvement with every burger at the new McDonald's on the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Chambers Street, helping to guarantee that their investment in the franchise is also an investment in their city's future.
They've taken their advocacy a giant step further, by launching a tutoring plan for high school students who work for them, with bonuses to students who bring home straight A's on their report cards. Click here to read more

Undocumented immigrants are coming into the country and providing American jobs?
|
Some say the political rhetoric about immigrants draining the job market and economy is false. They say the opposite is in fact the truth.
That’s important to understand for a state like New Jersey, which has one of the highest populations of undocumented immigrants, about 8 percent, according to the Pew Research Center.
Luis de la Hoz, a micro lender and vice president of the statewide Hispanic chamber of commerce laid it all out.
“An undocumented individual can build credit with a tax number,” he said. “If they have an ID number that only allows them to pay taxes. With that number, which matches exactly the digits of a social security number, you can build your credit. You can access loans with that number. The only thing is you are not a permanent resident. When they get their social security number (after being legalized) they can move the credit history to that number. We have been helping a lot of people in that situation.”
Carlos Medina, president of the Hispanic chamber, said the system works because the business world relies on the language of money.

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
