Zika Virus Update
August 18, 2016

Dear Miami Beach Residents, Businesses and Visitors:

By now you may have seen the various news reports regarding the Zika virus linked to Miami Beach. It is important to note that at this time the Department of Health has NOT confirmed any cases on Miami Beach, however we have been informed that cases are being investigated.

Please feel confident in knowing that the city has been proactively focused on the elimination of potential breeding sites for months, and we are aggressively continuing these efforts.  We are also working with Miami-Dade County as they are inspecting, and as needed, mitigating through techniques like clean ups, larvicides and targeted spraying.

Remember, prevention is key and w e are asking each of you to do your part to fight the bite.  Mosquitoes can breed in as little as a teaspoon water, so it is imperative to drain all sources of standing water on individual properties, including flower pots, buckets, car tires, toys, etc.

To report standing water for more than 48 hours on Miami Beach, please call our Public Works Department at 305.673.7625 or 305.604.CITY.  You can also report standing water through our free, Miami Beach eGov app.

If you have questions about what you can do to protect yourself from mosquitoes or would like more details on the Zika virus, please visit the Florida Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control websites.

As we receive more information, we will be updating our website here
