Parent and Family Conversations
Sending your student off to college is a milestone. Sometimes there are feelings of fear as change provides uncertainty. Many families fear that as they drive away from move-in day that their relationship with their student will be lost. It is important to remember how your relationship will improve and change over the next four years. Some families may not be aware of the fondness their student feels towards them. As your student heads off to college set up a weekly phone call tradition to reconnect and catch up. This traditional weekly phone call will allow you to have conversations free of distractions. Spend this time listening to your student speak about their experience in college thus far. The friends they have made, the places they enjoy visiting, and the things they have learned. When you visit in September for Parent and Family Weekend, you will have time to see their favorite locations in Boca and meet their new friends.
