Arts Fest this weekend
This newsletter is so jam-packed with events and information that we actually exceeded our capacity and had to delete some things, just to get the newsletter out to you!
We'll start with the Bucksport Arts Festival, which returns on Saturday. Also on Saturday, an open house at Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery, a health fair at BRHC, a wine tasting, a public breakfast, a paranormal/psychic fair at the Fort, and a tintype workshop at PMM in Searsport!
The rest of the weekend is just as full...and the weekend really starts on Thursday, when Snapshot Week comes to our Farmers' Market and Verona Wine & Design hosts a wine tasting. Scroll down below and find lots more things to do on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday...and throughout the month of August and into the fall.
We hope you'll consider gathering some school supplies to donate to the Methodist church's drive--or perhaps you'll show up and give blood at BRHC on Friday.
Whatever the shape of your weekend, we hope it brings joy, health, and prosperity to you and yours.
Enjoy your week and...send us your news!

Maine Farmers' Market Snapshot Week at the Bucksport Bay Farmers' Market
|
Snapshot week
Bucksport, ME: The Bucksport Farmers' Market is preparing to celebrate
Maine Farmers' Market Snapshot Week
on
Thursday, August 11
. This new program, developed by the Maine Federation of Farmers' Markets (MFFM), is a statewide effort to celebrate peak season during National Farmers' Market Week and to capture a "snapshot" of a week in the life of Maine's farmers' markets. Join us at 99 Main Street next to the Post Office from
2pm to 5pm
on the 11th to celebrate what our market means to you and your community!
Snapshot Week in Bucksport will include fantastic kids activities like storytelling, seed planting, temporary tattoos and coloring pages. Meet some animals from Lally Broch farm and enjoy live music! Enter the homemade salsa contest to win 2 tickets to the Common Ground Fair! You can find your ingredients at your market and bring your salsa with you on the 11th for a chance to win! We hope you will come out to shop and help us tell the story of the market - your market - through photos, shared memories, special events, and surveys. "We are really excited about Snapshot week because it is right at peak harvest so all of our farms will have their biggest and best bounty." says Hannah Hamilton of The Buckle Farm. Market manager, Rose Rapp says "Snapshot week helps bring more locally minded folks to the market. It is also a great way for me as a market manager to reach more potential local customers and folks visiting."
The Bucksport Bay Farmers' Market was founded in 2013 and now features twelve vendors. Products available include pasture raised meats, cheeses, maple syrup, baked goods, bread, eggs, seasonal vegetables, goats milk skin care products, egg shell jewelry and more! Many vendors accept WIC and via the market information both, customers can shop with SNAP benefits and receive Maine Harvest Bucks bonuses for fruits and vegetables.
Our market is excited to be one of over 50 markets throughout the state participating in the first annual Snapshot Week. Market farming in Maine dates back centuries, and the Bucksport Bay Farmers' Market is proud to be part of this long tradition. If you haven't experienced Maine's farmers' markets recently, now is the time!

Nearly Spontaneous Wine Tasting
Saturday, August 13,

We were all set, Tammy, Jack and I, to have a tasting the last Saturday of the month until I took a look at my calendar and realized I have to be out of town that afternoon. And Jack can't make either the Saturday before or after the last Saturday, so. Boom! We're having it just two weeks after the last one. But, you know, it's August.

How to Request a Transcript or Copy of a Prior Year's Tax Return
You should always
keep a copy of your tax return for your records. You may need copies of your filed tax returns for many reasons. For example, they can help you prepare future tax returns. You'll need them if you have to amend a prior year's tax return. You often need them when you apply for a loan to buy a home or to start a business. Or, you may need them to apply for student financial aid. If you can't find your copies, the IRS can give you a transcript of the information you need, or a copy of your tax return.
