Elementary School Dress Code Changes

We hope that you are having a wonderful summer! This year, our student leaders have recommended adjustments to the dress code. Those recommendations were recently approved and we are excited to share the amended dress code with you.

Elementary School Only
Students are expected to come to school in appropriate attire for school activities, keeping the Jewish value of tzniyut (modesty).  Neither boys nor girls may wear hairstyles that are extreme.  Body piercing and tattooing violate school policy. Clothes that are "see-through", too baggy, too tight, too revealing, or too tattered are not acceptable.  Clothing and/or jewelry with profanity, violence, suggestive content, or drug-related sayings, symbols or pictures, including references to tobacco and alcohol, are prohibited.

Because some interpretation and judgment in these matters is sometimes necessary, the administration of the school will be the final decision-maker regarding "acceptability", and reserves the right to send a student home if it deems that clothing choices are inappropriate.

Dress Code A:  Daily Attire
Students are expected to dress in a modest fashion that does not violate the value of tzniyut.

Shorts and dresses should be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee and should not be overly baggy nor overly tight.

All students must wear a collared shirt or Kadima logo-ed wear.   Shirts and tops should not expose midriffs nor undergarments.  See through or sheer materials are not acceptable for school.  Clothing may not contain pictures, symbols or words that reference tobacco, alcohol, drugs, violence, profanity, suggestive content, or offensive language.

Dress Code B:  Shabbat Dress Code
In observance of Shabbat, students must wear a collared shirt, preferably white.  Dresses are permissible for girls.

Dress Code C:  Spirit Wear / Field Trip Dress Code
For class fieldtrips, special events, or school celebrations, students will be permitted to wear either a collared shirt or logo-ed Kadima wear.
Dresses are permissible for girls.

Shoes :  must be in good repair, and tied at all times.  No flip-flops, spikes, cleats, backless shoes, shoes with wheels, high heels, or any open-toed shoes. Students must wear athletic shoes for Physical Education.

Hats / Kippot:  Hats may not be worn in the building.   In elementary school, kippot must be worn at all times. In Middle School, kippot may be worn at all times, and are required at lunch, during services, and during Hebrew and Judaic Studies classes for all boys.  Girls are welcome to wear Kippot during these times as well.

Hair may not interfere with a student's vision, or a teacher's vision of the student.  Unnatural hair coloring is not permitted.

Pierced ears are permitted, but other body piercing, decals, mutilations or tattoos are not permitted. Jewelry must be in good taste and in moderation; no earrings that hang to shoulders.

For Girls, make-up must be tasteful and used in moderation

Thank you for being a very important member of the Kadima community and can't wait to see you on August 22.
