OUR CONTRIBUTIONS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Professor Tim Keane taught two, 3-hour sessions of a basic stream science course called "Down to the River; to learn".  There were 18 kids in the morning session and 20 in the afternoon session.  The group spent time in the classroom introducing the basics of how streams work and then walked Campus Creek pointing out problems and the causes of those problems. Keane also discussed possible solutions and the restoration design proposal that came out of the specialization studio that him and Jessica taught Fall 2014. This is the second year he's taught the class for 4-H Discovery Days.

Associate Professor La Barbara James Wigfall co-published an article entitled "Creating Socially Just Communities, grounded in Consensual Imagination on Campus" with Mirta Chavez, Office of Diversity, in the current NOMA Magazine. Click here to view.

Assistant Professor Greg Newmark presented Income Disparities in Bicycle Ownership and Use at the International Conference on Transport & Health in San Jose, CA, June 12-16.

K-State landscape architecture faculty and alumni contributed to the Landscape Architecture Foundation Summit, June 9-10 at the University of Pennsylvania. The content of the event, in celebration of LAF's 50th anniversary, will shape the new Landscape Architecture Declaration.  Assistant Professor Alpa Nawre opened the first day of 25 declarations with "Developing Landscapes of Resource Management." Tim Duggan, BLA '06, presented " Regenerative Infrastructure Systems through Urban Acupuncture." Professor and Head  Stephanie Rolley moderated a panel on the future of capacity organizations at the close of the summit.

OF INTEREST
Landscape Performance Education Grants
To help landscape architecture programs integrate landscape performance into their curriculum, LAF is offering five $2,500 mini-grants to faculty for the Fall 2016 term/semester. Participating faculty will work with LAF to develop and test models for integrating landscape performance into landscape architecture course offerings, such as research and methods, site planning and analysis, design studios, and other lecture or seminar courses. Materials developed through the grants will be shared on the Resources for Educators section of LandscapePerformance.org, which includes assignments, syllabi, faculty reflections, and other resources to help bring landscape performance into the classroom. Landscape performance is one of the Professional Curriculum topics in the revised 2016 LAAB Accreditation Standards.
