August is officially here and the start of school is right around the corner. It seems like summer just began, but the first day of school is only three weeks away. Below I have included important dates and events that are quickly approaching to help make sure you have them on your calendar. Please take some time to read through the information below, and let us know if you have any questions.

New Assistant Principal
Please join us in welcoming our new assistant principal, Phillip Lentz. Phillip comes to us from Grapevine Colleyville where he was an instructional coach, curriculum designer, and professional learning facilitator. He was the top ranking graduate in his class at Texas Tech University and received his Master's from North Texas. Phillip is married and has twin daughters.

School Supplies
Compiling a list of common items needed for Lovejoy High School is a bit difficult considering the diversity of classes that a typical student can take. Knowing that many of you may want to shop for school supplies before you receive the complete list from teachers on the 1st day of school, we invite you to click SUPPLIES to consult a spreadsheet that details what items are needed for each department. Please note that there are 5 tabs, one for each of the core subjects: English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and LOTE.
 
Student Parking 2016-17
(All LHS students who drive and park are required to register their car)
Student selection of parking spots will take place on the following dates:
Wednesday, August 10th - Seniors only
Thursday, August 11th - Juniors only
Friday, August 12th - Sophomores and Freshmen
 
The purchase window will open at 9:00 am each day.

Attention: Seniors
The College Counselors will conduct an Apply Texas Application Workshop on Monday, August 8 at 9:00AM in the LHS Library mini-lab. We will follow the next day with a Common Application Workshop at the same time/location. There is no RSVP or sign-up necessary, but we recommend that all interested rising seniors come early.

Volunteer Application Process Now Open for 2016-2017
The volunteer application process for the 2016-2017 school year is now open. Please  click here  to begin the process. Should you have any questions, please contact Gina Ellis , Volunteer Coordinator,  469-742-8000.
 
Verification of Enrollment (VOE)
If your student needs a VOE for their drivers' license or permit, please come to the front office from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and we'll be happy to provide one.
 
Counselors' Office
The counselors' office will be open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on August 2 & 9 for new enrollment and processing transcripts. Students need to request their transcripts through Naviance. If you need assistance with your login information, please email [email protected] .
 
Student Recognition
After going through a very thorough application process, Ireland Miller and Kate Morgan were accepted into the Junior Volunteer program at Medical Center of McKinney. They worked in different areas of the hospital for six weeks and recently graduated.

2016 Varsity Football Season Ticket Sales
Saturday, August 6, 2016
10:30 a.m.
Lovejoy Elementary Gym, 256 Country Club Rd., Allen, TX.
  • For the 2016 varsity football season, we currently have approximately 265 season tickets available for sale.
  • All remaining season tickets will be available for sale on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • A total of 6 tickets per household may be purchased. Address to be verified via driver's license.
  • Cost: $28 per season ticket for 5 home games.
    $5 + $5 + $5 + $5 +     $8 = $28
    $28 for 1 season ticket, $56 for 2, $84 for 3, $112 for 4, $140 for 5, $168 for 6.
  • Checks or cash only please for sales on August 6. Please make checks payable to Lovejoy Football Season Tickets.
  • Each season ticket includes an $8 general admission ticket to the Tom Landry Classic on August 27, 2016 at Allen Eagle Stadium. This is one of our home games.
  • Patrons must be 16 years of age or older to hold a spot in line. Age to be verified via driver's license.
  • Said tickets may not be transferred to another party. Once surrendered, said tickets return to Lovejoy for resale.
  • If you are not able to attend this event, you may assign a proxy to attend for you using this
    2016 Proxy Form. The proxy assignee may not purchase other tickets during the sale of the 2016 season tickets. Proxy Forms must be submitted to the LISD Athletic Office no later than August 1, 2016.

2016-17 Lovejoy ISD Student Athlete Information Packet / Sports Physicals
The Lovejoy ISD Student Athlete Information Packet must be completed before any student in grades 7 though 12 may participate in LISD athletics for the 2016-17 school year. This includes tryouts, practices and games. Packets are NOT available online. Packets are available for pickup only from the LISD Athletic Office, the LISD District Administration Office, LHS office, WSMS Office and SCIS office. For 24 hour access, there is a box of packets located in front of the small field house behind LHS.

Summer PSAT/SAT/ ACT Prep and Tutoring for Fall Classes
*Summer classes include new lessons coordinated with online video explanations and quizzes
*Online and self-paced programs available
*Tutoring to prepare for Fall Math and Science classes (Alg 2, Calculus, Chemistry, and more)
*PSAT/NMSQT for top scoring students.
 
Juniors: Prep for the SAT/ACT in the summer to avoid the usual conflicts with AP classes and extra-curriculars.
