Los Altos School District and Los Altos Commumity Foundation Launch New Program to
Help Teachers Find Local Housing

Do you have an extra room to rent?

Our community values our high quality, dedicated teachers.  However given the high cost of local housing, many of our teachers are struggling to find nearby affordable accommodations and are unable to live as part of our neighborhood community.

Los Altos School District and Los Altos Community Foundation have partnered to create a bulletin board that will connect Los Altos School District teachers with local residents who have available housing to rent. If you have an available room, suite, in-law unit, apartment, etc. that you would like rent out to a teacher, please let us know.

To indicate your interest, please fill out the online form at http://tinyurl.com/lasdhousing or contact Erin Green, LASD Director of Student and Staff Services at [email protected] or (650) 947-1150.

Loyola Corners Bridges Celebrated

Get an Early Preview of the City's Brand New Online Parking Permit Software
The City of Los Altos is proud to announce the rollout of iParq, a web-based system that will allow residents, business owners, employees and visitors manage parking permit purchases and citations online.

Before this brand new system is rolled out to the public, members of the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce and the Los Altos Village Association are invited to a special preview during the month of August. This select group is invited to test the system and provide valuable feedback to City staff. We want to do everything we can to make the transition to a web-based system as easy as possible, and your beta-testing helps ensure we understand all of the facets of the system in advance of a full roll-out. All beta-permit orders will be cancelled on September 5, but you will have the option to store your information to make re-ordering quick and easy.

Simply log-on to the website at  losaltos.thepermitstore.com and go through the process to purchase a permit. If you find an issue, let us know!

We greatly appreciate your cooperation and look forward to receiving your input. Please send all feedback to Jennifer Quinn, Economic Development Manager, at  [email protected]

Thank you!

Microsoft Silicon Valley

1065 La Avenida Building 1, Mountain View

7:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Each year, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group's Education Summit brings together nearly 400 industry members, education advocates, and elected officials to actively engage in meaningful discussions to strengthen our education and workforce development systems. The 2016 Education Summit will focus on public-private partnerships in the following areas: Workforce Development, EdTech, Diversifying the STEM Pipeline, and Supporting the Implementation of New Education Reforms.

The Workforce Development Panel will be of particular interest to small and medium-sized businesses interested in developing sustainable hiring practices; it will address diversity recruitment and retention, as well as ways to strengthen relationships with local schools.

We are excited to announce that the keynote speakers this year will include Linda Darling-Hammond, the President of the Stanford Learning Policy Institute and the Charles E. Ducommun Professor of Education Emeritus at Stanford University.
