PRESIDENTS MESSAGE:

I can hardly believe the summer is almost over.  In a few short weeks students will be back in school, our seasonal residents will be returning and hopefully we can enjoy another prosperous year for all.

In case you haven't been to the Coop lately, you will notice new lighting, the tiles by the front door have been replaced, the back room has been cleaned out, and the front counter has been reorganized.  Thanks to Don Hutchinson and Judi Fuchs for their time and talent spent updating and upgrading the Coop so it looks and feels like a professional gallery.  New signage and paint will be coming soon.  Starting in October, we will have printed name tags for each gallery sitter to wear during their "sitting" time.  In regards to gallery "sitting" you are actually the sales staff for the day.  Good sales comes from attentive, responsive and helpful sales staff.  Greeting each customer, asking if you can help them find a particular artist or style of work, engaging them in conversation will help them feel comfortable and connected to the artists.

This organization is run entirely by volunteers. While there is much that can be done, there are a handful of dedicated people who work day in and day out to accomplish what they can.  There is so much that can be done and should be done, so if you are feeling frustrated that updates are not happening fast enough, communications are not going out regularly, the gallery isn't open enough days, there isn't enough marketing done, exhibitions don't run smoothly, ask yourself what you are doing to help. While complaining may make you feel better, it wears on the volunteers that have answered the call and stepped up to make a difference.  There is a lot that can be done- office task, admin support and chairs for our two biennial exhibitions, reception help, marketing, website updates, newsletter editor, hanging at the gallery, officers, to name a few things.  Once again, I invite you to join us and consider volunteering.

Please help us keep the website updated, send information on events, fundraisers, classes and workshops to [email protected] or Yesim Bozoklu at [email protected].

 Thank you-
