HBIDA's Fall Symposium is Saturday, September 26 at the Junior League of Houston from 8 am-1:45 pm. Registration begins at 7 am.  
Registration includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Parking at the Junior League is free.

Dr. Margie Gillis, the keynote speaker, will be speaking on how to motivate and teach struggling readers. The luncheon speaker will be Linda Decker who will discuss her learning struggles due to dyslexia.
 
 
IDA Sponsors Olympic Hopeful

Brad Tyra, a track cyclist, is looking forward to competing in the U.S. Olympic trials for the  2016 Olympics. Tyra was diagnosed with dyslexia in the fourth grade and had a difficult time in school with reading textbooks and taking tests. In addition to training for the Olympics, Tyra is also completing a communications graduate degree focusing on dyslexia and related issues.

 HBIDA has a Parent Networking Group that meets several times throughout the year to share and discuss ideas and information about next steps to take with education, remediation, and available resources in the Houston area. The next meeting will be at the HBIDA Fall Conference, Saturday, September 26.
