REMET TO PRESENT PAPER AT ICI TECHNICAL CONFERENCE IN OCTOBER
The technical paper, entitled Process Improvement in the Wax Room with Solucore ® Plus J23 Soluble Core Wax will cover wax process improvements.  Presented will be results of a productivity analysis that evaluated the performance of Solucore® Plus J23 in injecting larger soluble wax cores. Results showed improved surface finish and faster dissolution rates while maintaining dimensional requirements of existing tooling.  Presented with input from Cera-Met, LLC, this paper will also show that the improvements in processing soluble wax cores has also resulted in reducing the foot print in the wax room, lowered production costs and delivered higher quality castings to the customer.

REMET SHAPING THE FUTURE AWARD WINNER - AN UPDATE
LISA NONKEN, ACADEMIC DIRECTOR, SIENA ART INSTITUTE
Lisa Nonken's winning sculpture, Crowd Vertigo

Lisa Nonken, recipient of the 2009 Shaping the Future Award for her sculpture titled Crowd Vertigo, has described her Shaping the Future award experience as follows..."I am very appreciative of the opportunity to cast my sculpture, during my studies at School of the Art Institute of Chicago, thanks to the REMET award, not only for the opportunity to realize my sculpture in bronze, but also for the acknowledgement and affirmation of my artistic aspirations". Here is Lisa's story since winning the award in 2009.
Lisa received her MFA in Studio Art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, her Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Sculpture from the Lyme Academy of Fine Art, and her BA from Mount Holyoke College in Studio Art and Art History. Lisa is an American artist who first went to Siena, Italy in 2008 as an Art Instructor for the Siena School for Liberal Arts. In 2010 she returned to Italy to help launch the Siena Art Institute. She is passionate about art education and exploring the intersection of art and civic life. Lisa's multi-disciplinary artistic practice includes her work in sculpture, drawing, painting, installation, and photography, and she has exhibited in Italy and the US. She is the current Academic Director at the Siena Art Institute and serves as a Professor of Fine Arts, co-teaching the interdisciplinary Art and Society Seminar. She also teaches a Drawing course offered through the Siena School for Liberal Arts, the partner program of the Siena Art Institute. Lisa has been awarded residencies at Yaddo, the Vermont Studio Center, and the Blue Sky Project. Awards include the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant and the 2009 REMET "Shaping the Future" Award.

About REMET "Shaping the Future Award"
The REMET "Shaping the Future Award" was established, in conjunction with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, to provide an aspiring student artist with the funds and support necessary to complete a cast metal work of art, using the precision investment casting process. REMET has proudly presented this award, along with SAIC, since 1997.
This year marks the 20th Anniversary for the REMET Shaping the Future Award. Many of the previous recipients of this award have gone on to careers in the art world. As well as being successful artists, past winners are found in other segments of the industry, including art education and art foundry operations. REMET is very happy to maintain contact with many of the previous winners.
REMET PIC PASSES ANNUAL ISO SURVEILLANCE AUDIT

Without any findings by the ISO auditor, REMET passed their annual audit. ISO is an independent, non-governmental international organization with a membership of 163 national standards bodies. Through its members, it brings together experts to share knowledge and develop voluntary, consensus-based, market relevant International Standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges. International Standards make things work. They give world-class specifications for products, services and systems, to ensure quality, safety and efficiency.

REMET is ISO 9001:2008 certified and has held it's certification since 1998. According to Cheryl Pfendler, Quality Assurance and Compliance Director, without the assistance and dedication of all REMET employees, REMET would not be as successful as it is.
IMPROVE GREEN STRENGTH AND SHORTEN DRY TIMES WITH
REMET ® ADBOND® QUIKSET™
by Manuel Guerra

One of the largest problem areas facing investment casters is drying of intricate and/or recessed areas of the mold. These types of parts are usually extremely difficult to dry, and can sometimes slow down drying so that only one dip per day can be applied. A slurry system using ADBOND QUIKSET can allow for faster re-dipping of these types of parts, thereby easing the workload in the shellroom. Or in other cases, even with parts that are relatively open, more throughput is needed to reduce work in process (WIP). Using ADBOND QUIKSET can help to reduce dry times between dips enough to make a significant impact on productivity in the shellroom.
