Reinhardt alumnus earns his wings
Following in his family's footsteps is something that is near to Drew Spafford's heart. The U.S. Naval Officer received his wings in a ceremony in Pensacola, Fla. Friday, July 29, with his wife and fellow Reinhardt alumna, Katie Spafford, by his side. He is a third-generation Naval officer.
Drew Spafford enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2006. He served two deployments to the Middle East and returned to the U.S. to continue his education in 2011. He chose Reinhardt University where he studied Sociology with a concentration in criminal justice

NSO brings incoming freshmen and others new to RU together
Almost 400 students and their parents have toured the Reinhardt campus, met faculty and staff and registered for classes during the first six New Student Orientations held this summer. Many more are expected for final NSO event leading up to fall semester 2016.

Registration opens for 2nd Annual 5K
for ADay event in Canton
Have fun walking or running in the 2nd Annual 5K for ADay and help a Cherokee County student with college.
The annual event will be held Sept. 17 at 8 a.m. at Cannon Park, 130 East Main St., in downtown Canton. It is a rain or shine event.
"Funds raised from the 5K benefit students at Reinhardt," said Dale Morrissey, director of development and external relations. "It is great way to promote health and wellness and at the same time raising funds for a great cause - student scholarships. Alumni & Friends gather for fellowship and to support Reinhardt
More than 110 alumni and friends of Reinhardt enjoyed food, fellowship and the largest permanent exhibition space for Western art in the country over the weekend.

Student-athletes honored for success in the classroom
Reinhardt student-athletes are showing excellence in the classroom and on the competition field.
All 16 programs that were up and running during the 2015-16 school year were announced last month as NAIA Scholar Teams. Reinhardt is only one of 10 school in the nation to have 16 teams receive this award.
According to the NAIA, a team must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) to be considered for the award. The team GPA includes all eligible student-athletes. ...

Eagles Earn ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award
Reinhardt University's baseball team was one of nine NAIA programs recognized with the American Baseball Coaches Association's Team Academic Excellence Award for 2015-16.
In all, more than 140 programs in the country received the award. The award was available to any high school or college team that had a minimum GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale in 2015-16. The team's head coach also had to be a member. ...

To meet the challenge of creating a more vibrant campus, as well as enhance campus and community partnership, Reinhardt is promoting the "Light the Hardt" campaign to support the purchase, installation, and maintenance of lights.
As of July 31, more than $88,000 has been raised on a goal to raise $160,000 for new lights on Ken White University Stadium Field. Making connections in the metro
Reinhardt University's marketing team was invited to WSB-TV in Atlanta for its #back2school event. The station's general manager, editors, production team and reporters met with marketing and public relations professionals from K-12 and higher education organizations July 21.
The event included tours of the building, which houses several radio stations, WSB-TV and the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.
