CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE FOR THE RIVERSIDE ROUNDABOUTS
The Georgia Department of Transportation will close the Riverside Drive bridge over I-285 in Sandy Springs for repairs and maintenance work.
Weather permitting, the closures will happen during three weekends in August:   Friday, Aug. 5 to Monday, Aug. 8; Friday, Aug. 12 to Monday, Aug. 15;  Friday, Aug. 19 to Monday, Aug. 22 and the road will be closed between the hours of 9 p.m. on Fridays until 5 a.m. on Mondays during those weekends.
There are many projects currently underway in the city, and we want to help you navigate what roads are good to take or to steer clear of - The Road Work Advisory page on the City's website posts the latest on what lanes or roadways are closed for repairs.
POSSIBLE CHANGES TO STORMWATER MANAGEMENT
During its July 19, 2016 meeting, the City Council authorized city staff to move forward with steps needed to adopt the Atlanta Regional Commission's updates to its Georgia Stormwater Management Manual (the Blue Book). The Blue Book provides communities with tools for managing stormwater and is a required state standard.  In addition, the City Council also favored staff recommended changes which go further than the Blue Book to enhance water quality, especially related to residential requirements.  The proposed changes reduce the recommended trigger point for needed stormwater enhancements from 5,000 square feet to 1,000 square feet and changes retention requirements from one inch to 1.2 inches.    Commercial projects would trigger stormwater management at 500 square feet of impervious surface.  The City will hold a public hearing on adoption of the Blue Book and added amendments in August, with a formal vote taken by the Council following that hearing. Visit the  City website's Stormwater page for more information.
