News from Safe Nest
Domestic violence is a health care problem of epidemic proportions. Research shows that one third (31%) of women report being physically and/or sexually abused by a husband or boyfriend at some point in their lives. Asking your patient about domestic violence improves patient health and safety. Through routine inquiry and assessment for domestic violence, you can conduct life-changing, even life-saving intervention. A recent study found that 44 percent of domestic violence victims talked to someone about the abuse; 37% of those women spoke to a healthcare provider. You can be that healthcare provider and Safe Nest can help.
