Special Traffic Note
On Monday, August 1, 2016, Kirk Road will be closed at the railroad crossing between Hubbard Avenue and Wilson Street for three days. The closure will allow for the railway crossing to be reconstructed, improving the riding surface for Kirk Road motorists.
Kirk Road is scheduled to be closed starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, and is expected to reopen by 5 p.m.  Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, weather permitting. A long detour will be necessary. The posted detour route will use Butterfield Road (IL Route 56), IL Route 59, and Roosevelt Road (IL Route 38) to divert traffic around the construction area.
As always, KDOT reminds drivers that it is illegal to talk on a cell phone or text while driving through a highway construction work zone.
