Dear Parents,

As we begin a new school year, I just wanted to take the opportunity to welcome all of you to Belvoir Christian Academy. I am so excited to meet all of you and to welcome your students here every day. It is my hope and prayer that you will be blessed and encouraged this year as we grow together in God's amazing love and His plan for each of our lives.

Please make a note of the following dates and information to ensure that you are "in-the-know" about BCA events for August.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST - Sat., Aug. 6 - 10 a.m. - Noon.
All families of infants - middle school are invited to the Back-to-School Free Pancake Breakfast this Saturday morning.
The breakfast will be held at the church next door to the school, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (in the Fellowship Hall downstairs).

Families will be able to meet teachers and receive informational folders that include school information and forms that will need to be completed and returned for Registration Day on Aug. 10.

REGISTRATION DAY - Wed., Aug. 10 - 10 a.m.

Students, PK3 - 8th grade, and at least one parent/guardian, must attend Registration Day next Wed., Aug. 10, as this is counted as the first official day of the 2016-2017 school year. We will initially assemble in the gymnasium.

Students in Kindergarten - 8th grade must wear dress code on Registration Day. (Pre-K students are not required to wear uniforms.)

Following the assembly in the gym, families will have the opportunity to turn in completed forms from the packet that they will receive at the Pancake Breakfast this Saturday.  Please bring all completed forms to the cafeteria following the assembly.

Some time throughout the morning of Registration, students will need to check in with their homeroom teacher to be counted as present. (Parents, as you take your child to check in at their homeroom, be sure to sign up to be a homeroom parent or volunteer to help with a class party.)

After the assembly in the gym, parents may proceed to the cafeteria to turn in completed forms and visit various tables to purchase the following:
  • Lunch/milk/ice cream tickets for K - 8th (if needed - ranging from $10 to $20 for milk/ice cream tickets and $40 to $80 for lunch tickets - PK3 & PK4 students have lunch included in their tuition.)
  • Infodirect subscription - $8 (to receive text message updates and view grades, etc.)
  • Assignment Books - $5 (required for 1st - 8th graders)
  • Athletic fees (visit Athletic table in cafeteria for fees.)
If you ordered and paid for a 2015-2016 yearbook last spring, you may pick up these as well.

Parent-Teacher League Events and Field trip shirts - Field trip shirts will be available to order in the gym. All students must have a field trip shirt to wear for school outings. These also may be worn on Fridays. Sizes and prices will be available at the PTL table on Registration Day.

Please also speak with our new PTL President, Christy Rodgers, to talk about how you can volunteer to help with a school event this year.

The first full day of school is Monday, Aug. 15.

Dismissal times:
Kindergarten - 3:00 p.m.
1st & 2nd - 3:05 p.m.
3rd - 3:10 p.m.
4th & 5th - 3:20 p.m.
Middle School - 3:30 p.m.

Each Wednesday, kindergarten - middle school students will be dismissed 30 minutes early to allow teachers to meet in their Christian Professional Learning Community groups. If your child needs to stay in after care for this time, you will not be charged any after care fees for this 30-minute period.

For updates throughout the year, please look for weekly emails that will include the weekly newsletter. Infodirect subscriptions will also be very important, as parents will receive grades and be able to access account information through this service. In addition, families will receive text messages to learn about school closings due to weather.

(Please note that Infodirect will become active for the new school year by late August.)

We also post news on our Facebook page, Twitter and on our website - BCALIONS.org

We look forward to having your children back with us soon!

Blessings Ahead,
Linda Dahnke
