Barn Team Volunteers Needed
Barn Team volunteers are vital to Little Bit's success.

Volunteering to care for our herd is an excellent way to  get some exercise, enjoy the outdoors, be popular with the herd, and learn more about barn management!

We are especially in need of volunteers 16 years and older who can make a weekly commitment on Monday, Thursday, or Friday from 11 AM - 1:30 PM.

Volunteers keep our horses happy and healthy by delivering lunch, re-filling water buckets, and mucking paddocks. Please keep in mind that Barn Team is a physical job and volunteers must be able to bend, squat, and walk on uneven ground.

Interested? Email Zoe Rivera to schedule a training!
Little Bit Volunteer Natural Horsemanship Groundwork
Little Bit and SAFE Horse Rescue have partnered with Joel Conner to host a Little Bit Volunteer Natural Horsemanship Groundwork session. The clinic is free to audit or $75 to participate for any volunteers.

Joel has a very special way of working with horses and covers things that anyone handling horses can benefit from. Joel said that his work is about the horse; it is finding ways each day to do right by them and helping them have a clear and calm understanding of the work they do together. He follows the work, methods, and ideology of horsemen like Buck Brannaman, Ray Hunt, Tom and Bill Dorrance and Ricky Quinn Jr.

When: Friday, September 9th from 9-12 PM
*Participants should arrive at 8am to sign waiver and get horses groomed and in the arena by 9am.
Where:   SAFE, 16509 164 Ave. NE Woodinville WA, 98072

Please contact Lindsay Shepard with questions or to register!
Volunteer Spotlight: Katie Boa
What's your favorite thing about volunteering at Little Bit?
I love seeing the progress of the riders. Even in the short time I've been here, I've seen riders improve, and it's amazing to be a part of that.

Do you have any hidden talents?
I know exactly one magic trick and it's pretty cool,
so if you have a deck of cards I'd be happy to show you
.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not volunteering?
I love to read; I'm always off on a great adventure in a book.
I also like to crochet; I'm into amigurumi right now, which is making animals and people and other things with crochet.

Can you share something you've learned at Little Bit?
I'm a bit of an introvert and was really nervous starting out here,
but people have been really nice and helpful,
and I've gotten to realize that I don't have to be so scared to talk to people.

Katie joined the Little Bit team in January of 2016. In just seven short months, she's assisted in the arena as both a sidewalker and leader, on our Barn Team, and at the Pat Flynn Memorial Horse Show for a combined total of 135 hours! Thank you, Katie, for your commitment to our mission.
Meet our Staff: Chloe Wilkins
What do you do at Little Bit and how long have you been on staff?
Instructor, as well as the Equipment Specialist (A fancy way of saying that I organize and maintain our tack!) I've been here for a little over a year.

What do you love most about Little Bit?
That I am surrounded by people who actually care about their work and are passionate about the people we are serving. And you can't forget about the horses....they are unbelievable and make me more humble each day.

Do you have a fun story to share about Little Bit?
My first volunteering shift was a private with Della. I worked with her and this rider for over a year before interning. After I was certified it was the first class I taught independently. It was an incredible feeling for it to come full circle.

What hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?
There is time outside of work?!? I enjoying hiking and vegging out whenever possible.

What country would like to visit, or revisit?
I want to revisit Portugal and Vietnam, but I want to visit anywhere in South America!

Do you have a favorite food or drink?
I'm obsessed with seltzer water....not sure why. Favorite food is cheese. All I want is cheese.

Tell us something fun about yourself.
I am a huge reader! I read about a book a month.
