Week 6 of THE MAX Challenge has officially started and the finish line is in sight! Even though it's the "Dog Days of Summer" and brutally hot, now is the time you should turn up the heat even more to ensure your success and reach the goals you set in Week 1. Stay focused on your nutrition, bring your "Level 10" to every workout and strive for perfect attendance these last 5 weeks.

FITNESS:

Featured MAX Challenge Instructor:   Stephanie Franolich, Toms River, NJ. Instructor 2 yrs., 3 months.
 
If you're struggling with performing a plank, don't be discouraged.  In the video below, Stephanie demonstrates the correct form of the plank and modifications.
   
Basic Plank:  The plank is one of the best exercises you can do for your core because it builds isometric strength to help sculpt your waistline and improve your posture. Depending on the type of plank you try, you can also engage your back, arms, shoulders, glutes and hamstrings. Win!





NUTRITION:  

Looking for something new to try? Try this recipe.

Quinoa Crusted Chicken

4 Organic boneless chicken breasts
1/2 cup uncooked Quinoa (since this is split among the 4 chicken pieces, the carb count is 0)
1 egg, yolk removed
1 tsp. Dijon mustard
organic olive oil Pam spray
sea salt & pepper to taste

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375°.  Set up 2 baking trays with parchment paper for easier cleanup.  In one tray, spread out Quinoa into a single layer.  In a bowl combine egg whites, water and mustard together until incorporated.  Remove chicken from package, season with salt and pepper, put in egg white and mix. Working one at a time, dredge each chicken breast into Quinoa on both sides. When chicken is covered, places them on a second tray and repeat for remaining pieces. Heat large non stick skillet over medium heat for three minutes then spray olive oil.  Add two chicken breast and cook each side for three minutes or until toasted.  Repeat.  Place chicken breast on tray and finish cooking in oven for 10 minutes.

RESULTS:

Jackie and Peter Figueroa began their MAX Challenge journey on October 26, 2015 and have had tremendous success.  

The young couple had a wake-up call in January, 2015. Jackie received a call at work from EMS. Peter was unintelligible and unaware of his surroundings . When Jackie arrived at the hospital she thought he had a stroke. Peter couldn't follow simple directions and he couldn't speak in words or sentences. Thankfully, it was not a stroke, he had viral encephalitis. It was at that moment, his poor health hit home and they knew they needed to do something.

Peter was only 37 years old, he had high cholesterol, was pre-diabetic, and suffered gout attacks. He wore xxl in shirts and his pant size was 44 inches. Since joining THE MAX, he now wears medium shirts and his pant size is down to 34 inches.  

Jackie has also had amazing success. She is down from a size 18 pants to a size 8.
