Fresh Homemade Salad Dressing
OLD FAMILY RECIPE
Items & Ingredients:

Mortar and pestle set (see above picture).  If you don't have one, google it.  There are so many different types.

Sea salt or other healthier salt
Small handful of fresh mint - chopped
1/2 tsp chopped garlic
Juice of 1 Lemon
Olive Oil

Instructions:
Pour about a silver dollar size amount of salt in the bottom of the mortar bowl.  Add mint and garlic.  Grind together with pestle until you have made a wonderful, fresh smelling paste. Slice the lemon in half and squeeze into the mortar bowl with the salt/mint/garlic mixture.  Remove lemon seeds.  Slowly pour the olive oil into the mortar bowl watching while the lemon mixture separates from the oil. When the oil reaches the sides of the bowl, stir and voila, you are finished.  It's that easy...and so wonderful!

To serve or to store put in a shaker bottle and pour over a large salad or plate of fresh vegetables and toss thoroughly.  Let me know what you think.

Clem's Corner

For the past 33 months I have been blessed with the opportunity to work here at HealthWorks and during that time I have met and heard from literally thousands of members.  It can be hard at times to know whether or not the decisions or changes that we makes are really making a difference toward HealthWorks' ultimate vision of Building a Healthier Community.  Beginning last July, HealthWorks began an annual Member Survey where we asked questions about what services or changes you as a member would like to see instituted. These questions are important.  However, there are two questions that have significant importance to me:

 1.  How likely is it that you would recommend HFC to a friend or colleague?
 2.  How satisfied are you with the customer service at HealthWorks?

Webster's Dictionary defines Appreciation as the ability to understand the worth, quality, or importance of something.  This definition does no justice when I say I appreciate you. When member's answer 73% to whether they would recommend to a friend and 91% are very satisfied/satisfied with HFC's customer service, it tells me the path we are taking is in line with our vision.

Thank you, thank you for making HealthWorks your choice for your fitness and wellness needs.

Amy Williams
My weight loss journey began in November 2015.  At that point I weighed more than I ever had, even more than when I was nine months pregnant.  My doctor and I decided it was time for me to get my life moving in a healthy direction once again.  I began by changing to a low calorie diet eating as clean as possible while avoiding breads, dairy, and processed sugar.  The weight began so come off VERY slowly.  I knew exercise was the key to accelerating my weight loss. But I was embarrassed, no horrified at the thought of walking back into the gym in which the last time I had walked out its doors I was fit and healthy.

Finally, the end of December, I sucked up my pride and started going back to HealthWorks.  Every employee I encountered told me how glad they were to see me and offered me words of encouragement.  I started running on the treadmill; something I never thought I would do again.  Now I am, once again, an avid runner.  Every time I was on the treadmill I got a smile and a thumbs up by one of the 2nd floor employees.  I also resumed taking Body Pump on the 3rd floor.  This, also, was quite difficult, since when I previously attended those classes, I was in great shape.  Honestly, I did not think I would ever get back to lifting the weight I previously had.  I was just proud to be doing the Body Pump classes again.

I am now back to lifting what I used to with encouragement from the staff at HealthWorks throughout my entire weight loss journey.  I have lost 80 pounds and I could not have done it without their support.  I'm so thankful I let go of my pride and returned to HealthWorks.  If I can let go and walk back into the gym, then ANYONE can.
