Civic Association's Voters Guide for Palm Beachers Published
The Civic Association has launched its online Voters Guide and will mail the 8-page printed version to Civic Association members next week.  Become a member today to get your free printed Voters Guide.

Every registered voter in Palm Beach is eligible to vote on the August 30, 2016 primary ballot. That's a change from the days when primary elections were strictly closed elections for Republicans and Democrats to select their candidates for a November General Election.

The deadline to register to vote in the Aug. 30 primary or change your party affiliation is Monday. Registration applications are available at www.pbcelections.org. The forms must be submitted to the elections office on or before Monday, according to Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher.

Palm Beach Asked to Respond to Appeal of 
Testa Plans
Florida's 4th District Court of Appeal has asked Palm Beach to give reasons why the court should not review a case involving redevelopment of the Testa's property on Royal Poinciana Way. On March 3, the Palm Beach County Circuit Court dismissed a lawsuit filed on behalf of resident Anne Pepper and former resident William Cooley, and two neighborhood groups they represent, saying they lacked legal standing to challenge a town ruling in May 2015.

Samantha David, head of plaza landlord Up Markets, said crews are finishing work on the south side and then will move to the north. Workers are installing new driveways, sidewalks, drive aisles and lighting.

The landmarks board gave final approval last week to the revised plan. With the 22 new spaces, the northern parking lot will have 88 spaces, giving the Four Arts 177 parking spaces in all. WGI landscape architect Bryan Donahue said bridal veil trees will be planted in the two new green spaces.
Bethesda Seeks $1.6 Million Parking Expansion
For decades, the highly visible lot has been left untouched: a grassy carpet dotted with elegant sabal palms, a rare pocket of open space in a town where towering property values have long fostered maximum development. Now the lot's owner, The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea, which faces it from across South County Road, proposes to convert the vacant site into a parking lot.

Port of Palm Beach's Revamped Berth Could Lead to Cuba Trade
Port of Palm Beach
The Port of Palm Beach broke ground Thursday on construction of a $10.4 million mini-slip at its southernmost berth that could eventually serve as a base for cargo service to Cuba. Known as Berth 17, the expansion and infrastructure project at the port in Riviera Beach is expected to be completed by next July.

Travel Ruled Out in Florida's 2 Suspected Cases of Local

Florida epidemiologists have ruled out travel as a possible source for two Zika infections - one in Miami-Dade and one in Broward - suspected of being the nation's first cases transmitted by local mosquitoes, State Surgeon General Celeste Philip said Tuesday during a meeting with Gov. Rick Scott and health officials.

Two back-to-back storms are heading toward the Florida area according to the 5-day National Hurricane Center Outlook.

Invest 97L, highlighted in yellow, could develop this weekend as it nears Puerto Rico, forecasters said. The National Hurricane Center's graphical forecast has the system moving toward the Bahamas southeast of the Florida coast.
