Zoar Speaker Series
Continues on August 6
The Historic Zoar Village Speaker Series welcomes Andrew Richmond on Saturday, August 6 at 1 pm in the Historic Zoar Church. Richmond will present "Buy Local or By River: Furnishing Early Ohio".

Andrew Richmond is the president and CEO of Wipiak Consulting and Appraisals in Sunbury, Ohio. His education, which includes degrees from Kenyon College and the Winerhur Program/University of Delaware, fueled his passion for Ohio decorative arts. He has curated several major exhibits as well writes and speaks on the subject.

In his presentation, Richmond will discuss  how a variety of transportation into the state created easy access  to goods produced outside the area. And, while goods were imported to the state, exports of goods was a booming business as well. This lecture will explore how goods were made and used in early Ohio, and how trade and consumers played major roles in how the frontier was furnished.

Donations are always accepted to continue bringing quality, educational speakers to Zoar. To donate, please visit the  Donations Page  on our website, or call (330) 874-3011 for more information!

Bicentennial Logo featured on Zoar Barn
In celebration of Historic Zoar Village's upcoming bicentennial, a new barn mural was unveiled on Towpath Road! This mural is a celebration of the Bicentennial, which will kick off next year. This mural is painted on an original Zoar barn. Built in 1891, this is one of the last standing barns built by the Society of Separatists.
The mural design on the barn is the logo that will be used throughout Zoar's bicentennial celebrations, and incorporates several aspects of the Society's history. The colors of blue and red were used frequently in the community.  The symbols of th
e seven-pointed star and acorn were widely used in the community. The seven-pointed star can be seen on the ceiling of the stairwell of the Number One House.
