Pastor Sidney Brock

The month of August signals the end of summer break and the countdown towards Christmas!  If your summer schedule has been anything like ours, it was scattered with vacation time, and summer camps for the kids.  But now as summer winds down, life for those of us with children will get back to a more structured schedule.  August isn't just the time for kids to go back to school but it is also a time for some key components of our ministry here at Heritage to kick back into gear:  Missional Communities, Access points, Student ministry, Connect, our Children's environments are just a few things to be looking for upcoming information on as we move into our Fall schedule.

I am looking forward for the women of Heritage to have the opportunity to come together September 23-24th for the "Girlfriends & God Getaway" at Lake Yale.  This will be a wonderful time for our wives, mothers, daughters and sisters to connect with God.  Husbands, I am challenging you to be in prayer for this retreat.  Take the pressure off and make sure it is a priority that your wife has the chance to attend.

With our growth and your faithful support of the ministry of Heritage, Our Executive Staff and Overseers have been praying and asking the Lord for direction and clarity of "What's next?"  It could be easy to get satisfied with what God has done but we believe that God is preparing us to have even a greater impact within our community if we are willing to follow him.  We are expecting some great things this next year.  As I often say, "I am sitting on the edge of my seat just wondering what God is up to!  I just don't want to miss it."  We are very thankful for our church family and for the care you demonstrate to one another. Be mindful to pray and encourage one another as well as make the most of every opportunity you have to share the "Good News" and the "Hope" that a relationship with Jesus Christ brings.

ON A SIDE NOTE:
In our personal life, Merideth has made a change from the 4th and 5th grade center at the Villages Charter School and now will be one of the guidance counselors at the Villages Charter High School.  We are excited about this change and the opportunities that the Lord will present to her as she interacts with students, staff and, parents in the year's to come.  I would also like to congratulate Coach Anderson Da Silva and the Villages Soccer Club for their success in their first year of the PDL (Professional Development League) soccer league.   Anderson, we are very proud of you and thankful for your impact in the lives of these young men along with the Bell Family.  These young men leave this summer not only as having been trained to be better soccer players but they have heard about Jesus and seen what a follower of Jesus looks like and they take this back to their home countries.

Blessings,
Pastor Sidney

Girlfriends & God Getaway

Life is so busy.  Time gets zapped with the pressure of people, projects, and work.  And yet, in His infinite wisdom, God calls us to occasionally come apart from the rat race to spend time with Him and connect with others.  That is sometimes our biggest challenge - just saying yes when so many things pressure us to say no.  But through practice we learn that the results far out weigh the effort.

You don't want to miss this wonderful opportunity to enjoy a G irlfriends and God Getaway at Lake Yale.  This is a time of fun, fellowship and relaxation.  Our theme is UNStuck . If we take the time to think about it, we are all stuck on some issue that keeps us from experiencing the abundant life God wants us to have... fear, self image, busyness, sticky relationships, indecisiveness, and even
being satisfied where we are and not wanting to take the next step in our relationship with Jesus.
This will be a unique of worshipping with our girlfriends away from the hustle and bustle, to listen for our Father's Voice as He reveals some life changing truths from our guest speaker, Debbie Stuart, and to get UNStuck from...(you fill in your blank____)

Our guest speaker will be   Debbie Stuart

Debbie is on fire to draw women into the Word of God and equip them to become powerful influencers in their families and communities.
Debbie has been a Women's Ministry Consultant and Trainer for LifeWay Christian Resources for 15 years.
She is an encourager for women to develop a lifetime habit of spending daily quality time with God, Debbie authored "20 Minutes a Day for the Rest of Your Life", which is a great workbook for developing your study time with the Lord and incorporating Biblical principles for personal application.

Invite your friends, sisters, mothers, co-workers and neighbors! Let's get excited about getting away to Lake Yale Baptist Convention Center for the weekend and getting "UNSTUCK"!

When:   September 23-24, 2016
Where:  Lake Yale Conference Center
Cost:     Conference $75 per person

Missional Communities

MC LEADER TRAINING
Saturday, August 20th 9am-12pm

The summer is flying by and it's almost that time again to start up our Missional Communities! Missional Communities is what we call our small groups at Heritage, and we believe it is vital for our family members to belong to one of these groups for spiritual growth, sharing life together and serving our world.

On Saturday morning August 20th, we will have a MC Leader Training for all current Missional Community leaders as well as anyone who may be interested in leading a group this coming school year. If you've been thinking God may be calling you to lead a group, this is your chance to take that next step!

The training will be from 9am-12pm in the fellowship hall. Please contact Pastor Brian at  brian@heritagecommunity.org for more information.

NextGen Youth Ministry

What a Summer it has been.... XFUGE on Mission in Charleston, Annual Tubing trip down the Ichetucknee, and teaming with a group from Naples to serve our local community.

We are excited about the upcoming school year and what is has in store for our students. There will be a 6th grade Open House on Wednesday, August 3rd at 6:30 pm where parents can meet and greet with the NextGen leadership team. The following week on the 10th, we kick off the 2016/2017 school year with a new start time of 6:00pm.

This year brings a different approach to engaging our youth. We will be introducing our "Arenas" to the youth. These arenas will engage our students in areas where they are passionate. Some of the arenas will include art, dance, athletics, working with your hands, and videography/photography. We are excited to see how God uses these arenas to spark the flames within our students. Please continue to keep our students in your prayers as we move forward into the year.

God Bless,

Staff Member Spotlight

Each month we like to share the spotlight with one of our overseers or staff members.  We want everyone to have the opportunity to get to know these great people behind the scenes who go above and beyond in glorifying God.

This month we are shining the spotlight on Andi Graham.

Andi is the Children's Ministry Associate at HCC. She is always behind the scenes in our Children's  Environments.

She married Rodney, the love of her life 22 years ago, together they have two sons, Riley and Ryan.  Being raised by parents who were on fire for the Lord, it was only natural she wanted to know more about God. After attending AWANA's at her church at the age of six, she knew she wanted to give her life to Christ.

When asked about a time when her relationship with the Lord was tested, she answered, "My relationship with the Lord has been tested many times.  Growing up as a Christian doesn't mean you are exempt from trials, it just means you have the love and support of God to guide you through.  Health, relationships, etc... you name it, God has been with me.  The one that sticks out the most is when we (she and Rodney) had thought God had wanted us to serve Him on the mission field.  It was devastating when He said no.  It was a time of questioning and doubt that over time He proved Himself faithful as we continued to trust Him."

Andi shared her favorite "God story" with us as being when her oldest son Riley, was only 6 weeks old and couldn't keep his food down.  He was diagnosed with Pyloric Stenosis. Twenty four hours after the diagnosis, the surgeries began.  Being a young couple in missions training with no guaranteed income, it was an uncertain time.  God showed them He was in control of the situation.  He provided monies, transportation, lodging during the hospital stay and most of all He gave them peace.

Heritage is extremely blessed to have Andi working with our kiddos!
