2015 a momentous year for LISC
In 2015 LISC Indianapolis invested more than $15 million into Indianapolis neighborhoods in grants, loans, and equity. This supported 30 different non-profits, assisted 2,905 families and 102 businesses, built 91 homes, and improved 437,000 square feet of commercial space. We also support programs that enabled 528 family members to obtain jobs, over 500 families to increase their income, and the creation of 83 new neighborhood jobs.

Chasing the Dream: A Center for Working Families Success Story
Michael, a married father of three sons and a lifelong resident of the southeast side of Indianapolis, wanted to make a better life for his family. With the help of Blue River Career Programs and Center for Working Families, Michael earned his high school equivalency and completed Southeast's intensive three-week Career Pathways Program, then moved on to complete his CDL training and certification through WorkOne. Michael is currently employed by Hirschbach Motor Lines, Inc. The family has clear goals for savings, home ownership and support for their children's education. Their future is bright! Mass Ave Pop-up Retail Opportunity
Riley Area Development Corporation (RADC) is offering a Pop-Up Retail opportunity in the Trail Side building at 875 Massachusetts Avenue. Priority will be given to first time Pop-Up Retailers, Retailers that are expanding employee count and operating hours, and Retailers that are unique or new concepts. With State Farm's essential support in the first six months of 2016, Indianapolis LISC focused on the revival of legacy industrial sites capable of attracting significant employers and creating jobs for Indianapolis residents. Also, we focused on deepening our ongoing commercial corridor work in four strategic places, including International Marketplace.
Quality-of-Life Neighborhoods
Southside Planning Underway
Since February 2016, Southsiders from Garfield Park, University Heights, Carson Heights, South Village, Meridian-Raymond, and St. Roch neighborhoods have been meeting monthly to write the Southside Quality of Life Plan. The community anticipates a written plan to be completed and reviewed by institutional partners in late September. An Unveiling Celebration will follow in late September or early October where the community will reveal the written Quality of Life Plan and celebrate the beginning of a bright future for the Southside.Click here for more information or to find out how to get involved.

Food First Highlights Indy's Local Food Scene
"Food First" is Indy's first full-length feature documentary about the city's growing local foods movement. The documentary was screened at the
Indy's Food Council's Annual Celebration and Food Awards that took place on June 17. Following the screening, a gathering of more than 140 people joined in a community conversation about local food as economic and community development and the different facets of the food movement and how they work together.
