Sequim an Unsung Beach Town

Sequim was described a few years back in a popular magazine as an "Unsung Beach Town." This surprised a few people who think of Sequim as a valley town, which it is, but we are fortunate to have easy access to a bay, a river, and a strait all within a few minutes of the city. If you're looking for some refreshing water in the dog days of August, a visit to Sequim is just the ticket. Make your plans to visit today!

A Variety of Beach Options
To the east sits the calm, saltwater of Sequim Bay.  You'll find paddle boards and kayaks for rent at the John Wayne Marina, the Sequim Bay State Park with camp sites, baseball fields and a tennis court, and the Marlyn Nelson Park with picnic tables and a quiet beach, all along the shores of the bay.

Port Williams Beach at Marlyn Nelson Park is a great place for a quiet stroll along the bay shore.

The Dungeness River is a primary source of life in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley. The fresh, clean water streams out of the Olympic Mountains providing the necessary flow for salmon habitat and charging local aquifers for the entire community. Railroad Bridge Park is a popular place to experience the river and is home to the Dungeness River Audubon Center.

Railroad Bridge Park is a great place for families.

The Dungeness Spit and National Wildlife Refuge is probably the most well-known beach near Sequim.  Visitors come from all over the world to walk the 5.5 mile stretch out into the Strait of Juan de Fuca to be rewarded at the end with a visit to the New Dungeness Lighthouse

The Dungeness Spit is the longest natural sand spit in North America.
