ISA WORLD SURFING GAMES 2016 - TRAILER |
For the second time in history, Costa Rica will be the
home of the ISA World Surfing Games, from August 6 to 14, 2016. More than 130 surfers from up to 30 countries are expected to ride the famous waves of Jaco Beach during the Games, all of them looking at winning the individual medals and the World Team Championship.
On this occasion, high expectations are placed on the Costa Rican Team. These talented surfers are not only the hosts but are also the current world champions of surfing, and will defend their Gold Medal at home while aiming at winning a consecutive title. ISA President, Fernando Aguerre
, said:
"Events like the 2016 ISA World Surfing Games are a wonderful showcase of Surfing's youthful energy and unique culture - I can't wait to see some of the world's most talented athletes on the fantastic waves in Playa Jacó, during peak Surfing season."
This year's ISA World Surfing Games 2016 could become the first World Championship with Surfing as an Olympic Sport, which final decision to include it in the Tokio 2020 Olympic Games will be made in Rio in early August. Regionally, the sport will be included in the Central American Games 2017 to take place in Managua, Nicaragua.
The event has been declared of Public and National Interest by the Government of Costa Rica, allowing private and public companies to contribute economic resources towards its successful execution.
Costa Rica has a rich Surfing culture and, according to Costa Rica's Institute for Tourism, 10% of tourism in 2013 was due to Surfing - contributing USD $340,000,000. The arrival of the international teams and spectators for the 2016 ISA World Surfing Games will definitely be

 Rescuing the Children of Jaco Through Soccer
Robert C. Kline, President of Laguna Azul del Pacifico, has been nominated to the Advisory Board of the charitable organization RealJaco Academy of Leadership and Futbol. As part of his nomination, Mr. Kline is carrying out a fundraising campaign in Arizona to help funding the Academy.
RealJaco is dedicated to helping Jaco's children become the leaders of tomorrow. By providing leadership and soccer programs after school, weekends and during summer vacation, the organization works on filling the void during the times our children are at the highest risk of being victimized or drawn into negative and criminal activities. Currently the academy supports 50 children. With additional funding, RealJaco aims at building a consistent field to play with classrooms nearby to provide soccer and tutoring programs from 4pm to 7pm to approximately 200 children, 7 days a week.
Help us help the children of Jaco. With your donation, the Academy will continue to provide:
1. A safe environment to learn, play and grow after school, weekends, and during vacation.
2. Leadership training programs for the children to improve in school and as members of our community.
3. A safe space to foster children's confidence and self-esteem.
