Boundaries Workshop For All Rostered Leaders
A Boundaries Workshop will be held on Tuesday, August 2, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Brownsburg, IN. Registration begins at 8:30 am and the event will conclude at 3:30 pm.

The ELCA suggests that every rostered leader should attend this informational workshop every 3 years. We offer one every other year in this synod and a rostered leader may attend one held by another judicatory and receive credit for attending one. Certificates of completion will be handed out at the end of the event and a certificate will be kept in the permanent file of those rostered leaders who attend. To register, please click here.

Reconciliation: Dare We Speak of It?

The Indiana-Kentucky Synod Professional Leaders Conference is an annual event - the one time each year when the rostered leaders (clergy, associates in ministry, deaconesses, and diaconal ministers) have an opportunity to relax and to foster their collegial relationships. It is a time for conversation about leadership, ministry, and their personal lives. The speaker this year will be the Rev Dr Allan Boesak.

Dr Allan Boesak is professor of theology at Christian Theological Seminary and the Desmond Tutu Chair of Peace, Global Justice and Reconciliation Studies. Born in South Africa, his early activism and service led to international recognition as an influential leader in the fight against apartheid. Read More. You may register for the Professional Leaders Conference by clicking here

Donations for Back to
School Carnival
Did you know that something as simple as a new or gently used book, game or puzzle can tell a child "God Loves You!"? We found that out last year when we included those items with the backpacks and school supplies given to children age 5 through 6th grade who attend a public school in our neighborhood. We would like to include these items again this year at our Back to School Carnival. If you have books, games or puzzles that you would like to donate before July 27, please contact Gina Drey, First Trinity Lutheran, Indianapolis, IN (317-546-3085) so arrangements can be made for delivery or pickup. Thank you for your help in making a child smile.

A Message from the Presiding Bishop
This article first appeared in the "Living Lutheran" July Edition

From persecution to witness.
In the spotlight. In her July column for Living Lutheran, ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton notes that the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017 may have the media knocking on our doors, asking us to explain ourselves. What will we say? She reminds us that our understanding of the gospel is what makes us distinctive. Read more

ELCA Federal Credit Union Opens
The ELCA Federal Credit Union celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony June 6 at its headquarters in the Lutheran Center in Chicago. The credit union serves ELCA members, synod employees, congregations and ELCA-related ministries. It is the first of the ELCA's financial ministries to offer individual consumer loans. " This is responsible stewardship," said Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton at the ribbon cutting. "It makes services available to everyone. The ELCA Credit Union is socially responsible and is a great benefit not only to members of the ELCA churchwide organization but to all our members across the church." Interested in learning more?
