St. Paul's Church

July 29, 2016

Dear St. Paul's,

What a joy it has been to serve in the area of Children's Ministry for the last 14 years.   The Lord has blessed me with the most wonderful children and given me the privilege to be able to watch them grow and be a part of their lives all these years.  I'd like to think that I have taught them a thing or two along the way, but truthfully I think I learned and grew in my relationship with God because of them.  The young ones with their wide eyed wonder, pure love and trusting nature.  They so readily believe that Jesus loves them, no doubts.  Why can't we as adults be more willing to just give are all to Jesus with no restraints?  And those older children asking me the hard questions causing me to dig deeper into my own faith to find the answers.  What an awesome challenge they provided me and the chance to grow closer to God.

Serving at St. Paul's has been such a blessing to me.  I was given the opportunity to do a wide variety of jobs that challenged me not only physically & mentally but spiritually too.  What a delightful group of caring, supportive and truly spiritual people you all are.  So many of you have helped me throughout  the last five years,  whether it was helping with the kids, assisting with our many hospitality events, participating in outreach projects, staying to help clean up after church or simply offering kind words of encouragement, all was noted and appreciated.  And to watch as so many people stepped up to help fulfill my many obligations at St. Paul's was inspirational.  I know I have left things in extremely capable hands.

As I leave for new adventures in St. Petersburg, know that you will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

God bless you my brothers and
sisters in Christ,
Robin

Beloved Pilgrims:

In case you're wondering about accommodations, here are some brief details.

Our hotel in the north, the Galilee,  Ha-Galil , is the beautiful  Gai Beach.  Tiberias is basically an upscale local tourist town.  In Jesus' day it was a fishing village but then Herod pumped it up and named it after the Roman emperor who would conquer Jerusalem.

When we get to Jerusalem, it's the  Dan Panorama. We've stayed in this hotel twice before, great rooms, great location. If you are feeling energetic, get up at 5:30 and walk 10 minutes to Jaffa Gate in the Old City. Just sit on the wall by the gate and observe. You could peek inside the great gate and envision Lord Allenby, conqueror of Jerusalem from the Ottomans in WWI, walking - not riding, out of humility - into the gate on Christmas Day.

You could look at the gate itself carefully and see how it is hung. How it has great straps and bars of bronze to keep it on its axis. Then think of the Scriptures which speak of "breaking their gates and bars of bronze." You could smell the fresh-baked bread and see the vendors hustling, their heads piled head with loaves. You could smell the Arab coffee, cardamon and cinnamon, or the sweet tea, strong and sweet. All the while, you would know beyond the shadow of a doubt that our Lord walked here, perhaps in chains...

And this is just one gate...and one hour...
