SportFest 2016 will be September 17th, 2016 at the Servus Sports Centre.  The new location means more room for more interactive exhibitors!  New this year will be 'Come try it' areas, as well as a sporting equipment 'Swap and Buy', a roving gym, and much more!  Exhibitor registration is now open!  For more information and to register, visit our website: www.sportfest.ca
Junior Little League Canadian Championship
Junior Little League Canadian Championship will be held at Spitz Stadium August 3-11th.  Volunteers are needed in the following areas:  Rec. Can-Am Police-Fire Games
The 2016 Can-Am Police-Fire Games wrapped up 7 days of competition on July 24. Thunder Bay played host to 571 competitors and their families from 18 U.S. states and 7 Canadian provinces as well as Australia, England and Ukraine.  Lethbridge was represented by 3 competitors, who all brought home some hardware!

Tour of Alberta - Day 1 - Lethbridge
The Tour of Alberta volunteer website is live! 
You can choose one or multiple volunteer roles. Upon completing your volunteer registration, you will receive a confirmation of your volunteer role, date and shift time.    We look forward to seeing you at the races and can't thank you enough for all of your efforts.  
ATB Centre
The Crossings Leisure Complex officially has a new name: ATB Centre.
Phase 1 of ATB Centre features two NHL-sized arenas and a 10-sheet curling facility. A soft opening took place in early June offering limited programming, and a grand opening celebration is planned in mid-September. Construction began this spring on Phase 2, which is scheduled to open in 2019 and will adjoin Phase 1.

Rio 2016 - Just 7 days away!
With the summer games just around the corner, here is a rundown of when our hometown athletes will be competing.

Ashley Steacy and Kayla Moleschi - Women's Rugby Sevens
Games start on August 6th, Gold medal game on August 8th

Heather Steacy - Women's Hammer Throw
Athletics run from August 13th - 21st.  The Women's Hammer Throw qualifying event is Friday August 12, Final event is Monday August 15th

Liz Gleadle - Women's Javelin Throw
Athletics run from August 13th - 21st.  The Women's Javelin Throw qualifying event is Tuesday August 16, Final event is Thursday August 18th

Rachel Nicol - Swimming
The swimming event runs from August 6th-13th.  Rachel will compete in the 100m Breaststroke.  Heats are Sunday August 7th at 10 AM local time, if Rachel advances, semi-finals will be at 7 PM.  Finals will be Monday August 8th starting at 7:00 PM local time.

High School Athlete Preparation
Get a head start on your future competitors by signing up for a two week athlete boot camp.  This camp is designed to prepare you for the rigors of school season sports as well as introduce you to basic sport science concepts.

The SPort INnovation (SPIN) Summit
This annual conference combines experts from around the globe to build knowledge and tools, for future Olympic and Paralympic sport success through technological and scientific research. The 11th annual SPIN Summit will be held  November 16-18 in Calgary.
Lethbridge Field Hockey Fall Program
Field Hockey Alberta will be running a 6 week fall program right here in Lethbridge from August 31st - October 5th at Nicholas Sheran School Park.   This is an excellent opportunity to learn a non contact sport while being led by qualified instructors.  All skill levels are welcome.

ATHLETE ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM
The AEP is for elite athletes competing at a high level who would like to take their performance to the next level. This program provides the successful applicants with FREE High Performance training, Sport Science Seminars, Media Exposure, and Yoga classes.
SCiP- New Program Year & New Website
SCiP internships are meaningful, skill-based opportunities providing mutual benefit to both nonprofit organizations and post-secondary students.  The new program year for SCiP begins on August 1, 2016 and if you have used SCiP in the past, you will notice a new look to their website!
