Santa Clara Convention & Visitors Bureau
  eNews - July 2016
Here are a few highlights from the ongoing work at the Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB).
Santa Clara Hotels Continue to Run Above National Occupancy Levels

A significant part of the Convention and Visitors Bureau's (CVB) job is to drive conventions, meetings, and visitors to Santa Clara to stay in hotels, adding additional Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) dollars to the City's general fund.

In this respect, the CVB's daily efforts selling and marketing the City's hospitality industry have helped result in hotel occupancy rates well above the national average. According to PKF Hospitality Research forecasts, the national hotel occupancy rate for 2016 and 2017 will be roughly 66 percent.

The Santa Clara Convention Center area hotels are averaging 80% in 2016. In fact, in the 2nd quarter, the Santa Clara hotels occupancy was at 84%, 18 percentage points above the national average.

The hotels year-to-date occupancy average also continues to be in the 80% range, another testament to a strong Santa Clara hotel market and a great marketing and sales staff effort.
