Regional Update Volume 2016 Issue 4 |
What's New
Tuesday night's dinner and General Session will feature not only the presentation of the 2016 PPAI RAC Volunteer of the Year Award and announcement of the winner of the Donna Hall Memorial Grant, but select regional success stories presented as IGNITE Sessions! (Learn more about IGNITE Sessions HERE.)
Eleven new sessions will be offered this year. Since most will only be taught once, it is essential to develop a plan to determine who will attend each session to maximize your time.
Also, each breakout session will be an hour and 15 minutes (down from an hour and a half last year). This will allow for longer breaks between classes to handle business demands and desired networking.
Thursday will kick off with the PPAI Strategic Plan presentation given by
PPAI Chairman Tom Goos, MAS and
PPAI President/CEO Paul Bellantone, CAE. Then, regional groups will have the opportunity to meet with PPAI staff and participate in roundtable discussions to share best practices. The closing session will be a final opportunity to capture LDW take-aways and features
LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®,
an exercise in keeping creativity in leadership.

Karaoke's back! After a full day of classroom sessions, LDW Workshop attendees can let their hair down Wednesday night from 9 to 10:30 pm at Bonnie & Clyde's Hideout.

Benchmarking Surveys
Reports Sent to Regionals July 15
Thank you to all 27 regionals for participating in the third annual RAC Benchmarking Survey.
W
e again collected data on member recruitment and retention, tradeshows, professional development/events, staff structure and financial results to
provide fact-based metrics that can be used to measure success, identify opportunities, track trends both positive and negative and develop "best practices."
We hope you will dedicate the time to review the data as a Board, consider how you compare against the average and the median and identify areas where you have made progress and which areas may warrant attention.
Key Observations:
- Member dues revenue indicates a moderate increase from 2014 despite a drop in total members and flat membership recruitment results
- A significant increase in the number of tradeshows offered in 2015--up 34%
- 81% of regional associations offered at least one "Distributor Only" tradeshow
- 70% of regional associations offered at least one "End-user Access" tradeshow
- 43% of total tradeshows offered in 2015 were open to End-users
- Improvement in tradeshow revenue, expenses and margins across the board
- An increase in the number of professional development offerings
- Significant improvement in non-dues and non-tradeshow revenue

Diversity Development
and Engagement ...
Millennial Messaging
Over the past two weeks, Diversity Development & Engagement Manager Seth Barnett traveled to regional associations to deliver messaging about working with the new millennial consumer market and ways to attract, engage and retain these future leaders. In his outreach, Seth spoke at the CAAMP/GAPPP Promo University and met with members of GCPPA. Through these education forums, the continued message of the strength of our industry and our ability to connect with and market to the millennial generation continues to be top priority. Read more HERE.
Seth Barnett will be speaking at PMANC's August 16 professional development session in San Francisco and will be presenting at the NWPMA Fall Showcase in September. For specifics on these events and to learn more about PPAI's generational diversity programs, click

Regional Spotlight
UMAPP Outreach to Member Prospects
Two years ago, UMAPP Executive Director Sue Selseth wanted to market UMAPP to the member prospects she received monthly from PPAI. "I thought more could be done from the office side to reach out to these prospects," explained Sue. "I worked with the Executive Board to find money in the budget since this was being done towards the end of the year and there wasn't a line item in the current budget. Then, I contacted PPAI's Marketing department (my contact is Dee Horne) to develop the message and design a mailer for us."
Now Sue is reaching out to prospective members in a quick, inexpensive way--with a 6" x 9" postcard that strongly sells UMAPP.
