ATC/Fresh Air on WSQX (Starting August 29)
In response to listener requests, we're adding a couple of favorite news/talk programs to our evening line-up on WSQX. Starting Monday August 29, another hour of All Things Considered can be heard weekdays at 6:00 pm. Plus, Fresh Air will also be found on WSQX, starting at 4:00 pm.

Don't worry, both shows will stay at the current time slots on WSKG Radio, but fans have consistently asked for more broadcast times. By adding these news-talk programs to WSQX, we can now provide more options.

In addition, PRI's "The World", which has been a daily feature on WSQX since February 2016, can be heard at a new time. It's will be available at 5:00pm on WSQX. The broadcast time of Climate Connections, which airs at 4:59 pm, remains unchanged.

PBS NewsHour Weekend | When Climate Change Means A Disappearing Home
Over the past 60 years, the tribal community of Isle de Jean Charles in Louisiana has lost 98 percent of their land to coastal erosion caused by sinking land, rising seas and increased storm surge. ON TOMORROW

Earlier this week, the leader of New York's mainline Senate Democrats Andrea Stewart-Cousins joined us from the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.  Host Susan Arbetter also had a chance to speak with the Chairman of the Assembly Health Committee, Dick Gottfried, who joined her from the convention, too. But rather than talk politics, they talked policy - specifically, a bill he's sponsored that would shift New York to a single payer healthcare system:

The bill has been criticized in a recent Empire Center report. After Gottfried.  Also featured is the report's author, health policy analyst Bill Hammond who claims that the Assemblyman's so-called "Albany Plan" would cost state taxpayers billions of dollars.

And finally we hear some DNC analysis from political strategist Bruce Gyory of Manatt, Phelps and Phillips. It's all coming up on this week's edition of Capitol Pressroom Weekend.

Guests:
Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins, (D-Yonkers) Senate Democratic Leader
Assemblyman Richard Gottfried, (D-Manhattan), Chairman, Assembly Health Committee
Bill Hammond, Health Policy Director, Empire Center for New York State Policy
Bruce Gyory, senior strategist, Manatt, Phelps & Phillips; UAlbany adjunct professor of political science.
