When ships would leave Newburyport they would stock up on rum for their long voyages. Made from Molasses, this rum could withstand long trips.

Fast forward a few decades, and the Newburyport area is once again producing world class adult beverages that are being recognized all over the place. 

North of Boston Visitors & Convention Bureau recently created a 'Sip, Suds & Spirits' Guide to many of our local breweries, wineries and distilleries. It's a great guide to pick up if you want to explore the flavors of New England. Make it a day trip with friends or out of town guests [with a designated driver].
