Savor the Summer

Late July may just be one of the most delicious times of the year. The market is literally overflowing with plump peaches, juicy heirloom tomatoes, scrumptious sweet corn, a bevy of berries, gorgeous eggplant, beautiful peppers in a rainbow of colors, and of course zucchini galore! Nothing beats a BLT made with local tomatoes, crisp lettuce, farm-fresh bacon and just baked bread. Or a bowl of peaches with fresh creme. Or sweet corn dripping with creamy cultured butter. Simple. Delicious Food. Grown with love.

Join us tomorrow for another wonderful market day. And know that every cent you spend with a local farmer or food producer IS making a difference. Read this recently published article in the Sacramento Bee, outlining the impact that buying local has on the community in which you live!

Love your Farmer!

Purely Farm
The Return of Cervallata Artisanal Sausage and Turkey Bone Broth!

This week Purely Farm is featuring a new batch of Cervallata Artisanal Sausage. Cervallata blends locally grown broccoli rabe, aged provolone, salt, freshly ground pepper and fennel...and of course their very own farrow-to-finish pasture-raised pork. Cervallata's alluring and bold flavor is certain to entrance the senses and calm the soul. Remember to pronounce Cervallata with a "ch" sound as in "check out this amazing sausage"...Farmer Marc has been known to refuse sales to those who say "S"ervallata! Purely is also bringing a fresh round of Joanna's famous Turkey Bone Broth. Please exercise caution, this is not a product for the weak willed. Turkey Bone Broth has been known to turn more than one unexpecting customer into a total broth junkie. Ever notice shaky handed foodies seaking a fix of this healthy and tasty cure-all miracle tonic? Not only great for the body, Purely Farm's Turkey Bone Broth is an amazing fertilizer, can dissolve rust, make your children obey your every wish and is an exceptional skin moisturizer!

Stop by Purely Farm's Naturally Pasture-Raised Meats and give it a go...their stuff is insanely yum...not to mention just 20 miles local!

Bad Farm
Beth and Dave are very thankful for the rain we got this week and praying for all the farmers that missed the showers, just a few miles from down the road. There are farmers whose crops are failing and drying up from the lack of rain. This is one of the many challenges of farming. This week Bad Farm will offer Fresh Mozzarella ( great with those juicy summer tomatoes), CURD which is delicious on hot or cold pasta and atop your salad,  and a variety of raw milk aged cheeses. Look for plenty of YOGURT, Raw MILK and eggs too. The coolers will be filled with Chipped Beef, Hamburger Patties and Cubes as well as ground beef and roasts, and a number of steaks. Oh don't forget some creamy, farm fresh butter to melt over the your sweet corn. (limited amount of butter so please preorder and we will hold it for you till you get to the market).

Scholl Orchards

The season's first freestone peaches arrive tomorrow at Scholl's! Sink your teeth into a luscious Red Haven or White Lady peach. You'll think you died and went to heaven! Scholl's will also have the first round of cantaloupe and tomatoes! Try this refreshing cantaloupe salad from Epicurious, featuring lime, mint and ginger. (you'll find lime, mint and ginger in the Highmark Farmstand in the Easton Public Market)

Valley Milkhouse

Thistle returns! This summer version of Valley Milkhouse's notoriously creamy Brie is slightly thicker and fudgier, which makes it perfect for baking! Place it in a shallow baking dish in a 350 degree oven for 5 to 10 minutes and serve it with a spiced jam from Two Sisters Canning or fresh peaches or berries from your EFM growers for a special seasonal appetizer!

Breakaway Farms
Breakaway Farms' summer sausage production is in full swing! This is your LAST CHANCE to get in on this year's batch of Blueberry Thyme Sausage; featuring Breakaway's own pastured pork, local blueberries, fresh thyme, cracked black pepper, sea salt, and a hint of sugar. Only one batch of this summer favorite is made each year and it's almost all gone! Of course, in addition, their freezers will be packed with all the pastured and grass-fed, local goodness you can think of to grill, fry, braise, or roast.

Peace Tree Farm

This week Peace Tree Farm is embracing the heat with their collectible line of saucy succulents!!! Their combo planters are looking lush and lovely, and the herbs are huge and hardy! Come on down to their shade spot and grab a gorgeous gift for the garden, deck, or kitchen table such as Justicia 'Holanda' (pictured) she is an EFM favorite these last few weeks - a 'Geek' in all her glory!
