Imagination + Creativity at Their Best
Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel) has influenced nearly every one of us who's learned to read, and we're pleased to recognize his birthday on Sunday, March 2.

The Cat in the Hat is one of the best selling books of all time, and its origin is an interesting tale of its own. In the mid-1950s, educators were concerned about children's failure to learn to read; some speculated their books were boring. Dr. Seuss was presented by his publisher with a list of 348 words that were considered important for children to know. He was asked to pare the list to 250 and write a book that would captivate children using only those words. After nine months, The Cat in the Hat was the delightful result, using 236 of the words. Its simple vocabulary, drawing style and verse rhythms made The Cat in the Hat a favorite of readers (novices and advanced!) and placed Dr. Seuss on the list of icons of American culture.

Back to Work!

2014 is off to a less-than-stellar start for Quinter Design. We're working to put our office and house back together after a major burst water pipe in early January. We are trying to maintain a regular office schedule, but we expect major repairs to disrupt our work during the next few weeks. Right now, the place looks like the aftermath of an invasion by The Cat in the Hat!

On an upbeat note, Robyn is recovering from her fractured shoulder, the result of a fall over debris from the water pipe disaster. She has been working one-handed from an immobilizing sling for the past month and looks forward to physical therapy!

Your feedback to our e-newsletter, On Target, is appreciated, and your
questions and comments are always welcomed. Our next edition will be circulated in March 2014. We look forward to seeing you in the coming months at various networking and educational events.
