Our Home away from Home:
Hamilton Middle School!
We are thrilled to announce we have a temporary location that will serve our congregation's needs very well:

8600 E. Dartmouth Ave.
Denver, CO 80231 ( map)

Hamilton will be our home away from home on Sunday mornings for a single worship service and religious education programming at  10:00 a.m. Following the service, we will have time to gather as a community over coffee and tea as we do now.

In late August, our main office and staff work will move to a small office suite located at 9185 E. Kenyon Ave., #275, Denver, 80237 ( map). At this location, we will be able to maintain regular office hours.  We will use space at First Plymouth Church and Calvary Baptist Church for specific programs and functions.

Susan Schoenthal has been communicating with groups and committees about their needs for meeting spaces next year, and she will continue to provide support as groups plan their programming. Please contact her directly with any group programming questions at [email protected].

To stay up to date with where various programs and events are located, please tune in to this monthly e-newsletter and visit our Events page.

FFRE is Ready for Middle School!

This year because of the temporary relocation there will be just the one, 10:00-11:00 a.m. , education hour. We are in the process of figuring out what the education hour will look like and figuring out what material we will be using. If you have children who have not yet been registered for the 2016-17 year, doing so will help with the planning. Use our simple, fast online registration form.

Community Forum

World without War
Sunday, August 7, 11:30 a.m., Sanctuary
"Why have empathy for someone who joined the military voluntarily and now decides he or she cannot fight, cannot kill? Didn't they know what they were signing up for, that the purpose of the military is to fight wars?" It is challenging to demonstrate the peacemaking relevance of conscientious objection to a modern audience, particularly as half the U.S. population was born after the discontinuation of the draft. We will explore these difficult questions and the personal journeys of conscientious objectors in a discussion led by Maria Santelli of the Center on Conscience & War, an organization that has worked in support of conscientious objectors for over 75 years.

Sunday, August 14, 11:30 a.m., Sanctuary
This will be our last Sunday Community Forum in this church building before construction starts on a major church remodeling and expansion program, after which we will find another space for about a year before returning to the reconstructed building.  Stay tuned for an interesting program on this date --
to be announced.

Stay tuned for announcements of a new location and future topics for the Community Forum.
