Web-to-Print for In Plant Print Rooms

Can a print room become the eye of calm in the middle of a dynamic and demanding organisation? oasis

It seems always to be the nature of the print industry that jobs sent to a print room arrive with very little notice and, in the customers rush to get the order processed as soon as possible, the instruction for its print and finishing can be imprecise, conflicting or just simply not doable.

The result is that the print room can find itself constantly reacting to the demands of the moment. I f every order requires follow up calls, emails and clarifications, this can jeopardise the speed and perceived quality of customer service.

With Skyline, you configure your job submission to ensure all the information and subsequent production is completed easily, allowing your production team time to respond to those more complex and challenging jobs.

How do we do this? Here is a few of the ways:
  • Channelling the Variety of Input > Common Input. No matter what jobs your users pass your way, the print room receives a standardised work package via Skyline.
  • Jobs are received already authorised with account codes and fully costed.
  • Multiple storefronts so you can customise your branding to appeal to different user groups and organisations.
  • One Stop Shop. Skyline handles print, copy, standard products and variable data items templates with ease.

In conclusion, Skyline helps you become more productive, organised, reduce external spend and provide a shopping cart for your services that users will find simple and quick.
The IPMA conferenceIPMA

We have just recently returned from attending our inaugural year at the IPMA Conference 2016 in Denver, Colorado.

We had a great time meeting many of IPMA members and learning from their experiences running some of the busiest print rooms in the US. We also ran a little competition to win one of Britain's finest, a Fortnum & Mason Hamper (a favourite of Her Majesty herself!). Congratulations to Lora from the University of North Texas, who is hopefully enjoying a cuppa right now!

According to research by InfoTrends there are over 50,000 in plant printing sites in the US. In-PlantGraphics, a leading resource for in plant printers, has a subscription of over 19,000 alone. It is a diverse industry servicing  segments including colleges, universities, associations, hospitals, insurance, manufacturing, primary and secondary education, religious organizations, local/state/national governments and utilities. However, despite this variety, the challenges and opportunities for in plant printers around the US, and indeed the world, are markedly similar.

It was fantastic therefore to support this event focused solely on in plant print rooms. The conference provided a brilliant forum in which to network, share ideas and spread best practise. We look forward to being involved in next year.
A new addition to the ePrint team Steve

We are delighted to welcome Steve Dobbs to the ePrint team as our new General Manager.

With 30 years in the printing industry and extensive experience of workflow systems including Web-to-Print, Scanning, Print Management, Mailing systems, Graphic Design and  CRD, Steve will be working with our Partners and helping ensure that Skyline users get the most from all its great features.

Outside of work, Steve is interested in media & photography, walking, travelling and is a keen supporter of Hull FC Rugby League. Apparently he is a bit of a gadget-man and according to his wife, will buy anything that has a plug on it, so he will fit in just fine with the ePrint team!
How to guides: Live Orders Control Control

In our latest Skyline Release 6.9.3 we introduced a new management control.  This  Live Orders Control allows print room supervisors to view all the orders placed on the PrintStation and make amendments via the Skyline admin pages.

Watch our short 'how to guide' video for a quick outline of how this control works.
