2012 G.D. Vajra Langhe Rosso
Piedmont, Italy

Regularly $16.99, Special Price $14.44

In the Piedmont there are so many grape varieties that taste great on their own that it is sometimes hard to imagine why you would want to blend them together. Why not let them shine like the individuals they are? Well, I guess if everyone held the same opinion I do we would deprive ourselves of a lot of great things. Thankfully, a few people who see things differently from me happen to be members of one of Piedmont's great Barolo Families, G.D. Vajra.

G.D. Vajra believes that, like with a great soccer team, every player has something to contribute to the final outcome. Nebbiolo captains the team with structure and elegance while Barbera brings freshness and fruity personality. Along with Dolcetto, Friesa, Albarossa, and Pinot Noir they make a wine that has layers of complexity but is easy and delicious to drink. For such a great wine this price is amazing. I hope you all enjoy!
Verde Capra Blue Cheese
Lombardy, Italy
Regularly $31.99/lb, Special Price $25.99

Verde Capra is made by cheesemaker Ambrogio Arnoldi in the Lombardy region of Italy. It's an Italian blue cheese made from goat's milk, or, should we say, an Italian green cheese as Verde Capra translates to Green Goat. This cheese has a similar texture to the famous Gorgonzola Dolce but the flavor is quite different.

The flavor of this cheese is tangy and creamy with an understated, blue cheese flavor. The slightly tangy and creamy goat's milk of the Verde Capra brings out the luscious cherry and red current flavors of this week's wine. There's a lot of flavor with this week's pairing!
