SWCA Synod Vacation Bible School 2016
With 40 kids attending and 25 volunteers, Lutheran Church in the Foothills at La Canada's VBS had the theme of "
Expedition Norway." Participants learned that "God is Good," and also learned about the culture, food, and games of Norway. The
Sons of Norway even came to teach the kids a Norwegian dance, dressed in traditional Norwegian attire.
LCIF's VBS raised over $500 to fight Cerebral Palsy, participating in the #danceforfinley challenge, supporting Finley's hope for surgery so she can walk. More information on #danceforfinley can be found at www.doyoudaretodance.com.
Faith, San Dimas' VBS
participants, 25 kids, 20 volunteers, as well as pre-school kids and teachers, went on a
"Cave Quest: Following Jesus, the Light of The World."

ampers experienced daily Bible lessons through song, dance, Bible activity, community service, snacks, a science experiment, games, and an acti
vity oriented closing program. Pastor David Berkedal says "we were able to give personal attention to several special needs children, and have discussed making that a focus next year."

Ascension Lutheran Church, Thousand Oaks, California, invites applications for the position of a full time Director of Youth Ministries beginning September 2016.
Our congregation has 2,710 members; we average 600 - 700 total attendance in our four weekend worship services. Our school includes infants through eighth graders and it is a very central part of our ministry, with Chapel every Wednesday morning. Ascension places a very high priority on children's, youth and family ministries, as well as intergenerational ministries. Our website is

The Director of Youth Ministries plans, organizes, and implements a youth activity program for 7th-12
th grades as listed below:
- Works cooperatively with the youth committee, church staff and others in the church, as appropriate, to coordinate youth activities.
- With the help of the Youth Committee plans, organizes, implements and provides leadership for 7th-8th grades, including Confirmation program, conventions and/or retreats and fellowship events.
- Interacts with Day School students and staff (weekly Chapel, advisory team, performances, etc.)
- With Help of the Youth Committee plans, organizes, implements and provides leadership for high school (9th-12th grades) weekly Bible study, fun outings, community service, conventions and/or retreats (typically through the ELCA and LRCC).
- Develops youth leadership to assist in activities. This includes a summer planning retreat and monthly planning meetings. Recruits adult volunteers when necessary.

Trinity Lutheran Church in Manhattan Beach is seeking a Youth Minister/Educator. This progressive, relevant, child-crazy Christian congregation is looking for a creative teacher to deliver relationship-based instruction for all grade levels at on-campus and off-campus events, including preschool chapels, midweek education, Sunday-morning worship, and weekend retreats. This is a full time position. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Pastor, contributing passion, joy, and energy. Must be musically inclined, social media savvy, and deftly skilled at healthy, interpersonal relationships.
