We had a delicious Farm-to-Table dinner in Bethesda on Monday night. We mention this because Chef Andrew Fleischauer of Mon Ami Gabi "walks the talk." Each Sunday, the chef and his crew visit Bethesda Central to pick out fruits and vegetables that will be turned into delicious dishes at Mon Ami Gabi.
Monday's dinner featured a chilled peach soup and peach juleps (Westmoreland Berry Farm); fried zucchini with fresh tomato sauce and basil puree (Westmoreland Produce), butter lettuce salad served with Stonyman Gourmet Farmer goat cheese; fresh Virginia pan-seared Rockfish accompanied by fried vidalia onions and sautéed arugula corn puree; Hanger steak from Liberty Delight Farms; and a delicious raspberry cake (Westmoreland Berry Farm).
Chef Fleischauer created the perfect summer dinner using farm fresh ingredients. His patronage at our markets is a wonderful testament to the quality of our vendors. We would like to see more restaurants buy locally from the farmers at all farmers markets!
Our hats off to Mon Ami Gabi and Chef Fleischauer for keeping the farm in
"farm-to-table!"
