The heat is on! Remember when we were lamenting those unusually cold days at the beginning of spring? And now the dog days of summer have arrived and made camp. The air has been heavy, and, as we have been saying for several weeks now, the mood in the country and the world has been pretty heavy.
Time to lighten it up for a bit, don't you think? Summer is supposed to be a time of relaxation and fun. Making time to slow down, regroup and rejuvenate is imperative for our emotional and spiritual health, and helps to to strengthen us when we DO have to face an often chaotic world and personal life.
Our ISD family has been so blessed during the last several weeks. Our Sunday services have been uplifting and invigorating. Our educational offerings like last week's Practical Reiki Level One Certification and our Summer Kundalini Yoga have been wonderful - and fun - ways to learn new ideas about healing ourselves and others. Our Psychic Fair was as lively as ever with folks seeking out Intuitive Insight as well as some good ol' picnic food to enjoy together. Our Evening Meditation last week was a gentle and beautiful experience for all of us who took the candlelit journey together that helped us all gain a deeper sense of spirit and self.
So I'm thinking that we are doing pretty darn well together as we move through this heatwave of summer events and weather. We got this!
And we still have quite a bit of summer remaining...so what ELSE we can we do to refresh and renew our Spirit this summer?
Well of course I have some ideas about how ISD-DC can help...
- Our Summer Kundalini Yoga class led by Rev. Ken Foor continues this Thursday, July 21 and runs through August 25, 2016.
-
- Our Summer Wellness Expo will offer opportunities for wellness "tune-up" sessions on Sunday, July 24 following the 11 a.m. service.
- Bill Sanda will lead the popular Healing Through Your Akashic Records workshop on Sunday, July 31. A limited number of slots are available so please register soon!
- Rev. Kathy Kerston from ISD-Sparta returns in August, and will lead a workshop on EFT's Effects On Healing on Saturday August 6. You won't want to miss this opportunity to learn our practice this easy, wonderful and powerful tool to help accelerate changes in many areas of your life. She will also be our guest homilist at the Sunday Service on Sunday, August 7.
-
- Rev. Kathy will also offer a post-Sunday Service workshop on August 14th from 1 - 2:30 p.m. called "I Got Your Number," a fun and fascinating look at numerology and how you can "run your numbers" to release and receive in your life.
- Rev. Kathy, who most of you know is a world renowned astrologer and psychic, will also be offering a limited number of personal readings during her extended stay at ISD-DC August 5 - 15. Please email her directly at [email protected] to schedule a private reading.
Our seventh annual Back(Pack) to School project has launched! Your generous contribution of $35 will help a child get the supplies-stocked backpack he or she needs to begin the school year!
To hear several of our homilies and meditations that you may have enjoyed or missed, be sure to check out our Soundcloud page. There you will find insight and tools to help deepen your connection with Spirit.
Keep checking our
Facebook Page as well, which
will keep you up-to-date on ISD happenings.
Yes it's hot. Yes there is LOTS happening in the world that can seem overwhelming. But let's remember to
make the time to re-energize our souls this summer. Let's make summer fun again!
